Do you think Oliver Reed might have been drinking when he bought it?

Morgans feel like a continuation of something. Panthers feel like an end of pier tribute to something.

Which would be fine and grand if it wasn't that the 'something' they feel like a continuation of wasn't a badly maintained rag-and-bone man's cart.

That's the 'traditional' models, of course: the cartoon 'Aero' models and the 'designed by someone else entirely, in the USA, but we can double the price tag if we claim it was ours and stick a Morgan badge on it' three wheelers are just as much of a crap, cynical pastiche as anything Panther ever turned out.

I restored the leather on the very one Elton John owned. The guy in Notts who now owns it is a smashing bloke. It's not my cup of tea, but he's really passionate about it.
He has a few eclectic cars, including a few Trabants and a factory fresh MG Metro. I wouldn't be surprised if he's on here!

152 hp out of a 2.8 V6 ???

Engines have come a long way.
More like 133bhp - this is a carb version - article has quoted the power for the injection version ( unless it had some tuning with the unleaded conversion )

These were all cast iron lumps with 2 valves per cylinder and made to go in light cars 30/40 years ago based on a design 50 years old. German engineering though wink

Ok then - to clarify, 52 year old design, 2.8 version came out 40 or so years back and they were still using it up to about 30 years back when the 2.9 took over

Used to be well known about on here being a TVR forum originally

I don't think it's underpowered, 150bhp would be plenty of fun in a car like that. It would look good with a bit of de-chroming.

Omit the most forward set of lights and the chrome badges.
Paint the "gills" red to match the main body colour.
Matt black paint on the running board instead of chrome.
Matt black paint on the front grill (maybe).
I usually hold the opposite view, but in this case it could do with some bigger wheels.

About 40 years ago in my early teens I was mates with Bob Jankel's son. I remember going round to his house once and the Six was parked outside. It was much smaller than you'd think. I recall the big problem was the hand-cut tyres which made it non-road legal.

I also remember snogging a girl called Penelope near his garden gate at a party once too smile

Maybe not quite the perfect wheels, but I do think with a bit of tweaking, ride height slightly improved these could look pretty good. Always bugged me that the rear wheel sits too far forward in the rear arch. Personally I prefer the rear of the Lima as the roof is hidden flat with the body instead of heaped on top.

My parents own all sorts of them, top beard points require mention of the J99 though...

I took one in against a new Hyundai Coupe once.

Beige, black leather, 2.8 same as this fortunately (the other option being the 1.6 CVH). Ran it for a week or so, just because I could.

Really cramped cockpit, XR3 steering wheel and MG Midget doors. The rest was aluminium except for the huge, black plastic front spoiler that filled in the entire space between the bumper and the rest of the car.

It drove well enough and made a small profit when put through the auction: this wold have been 2005ish and we paid £4,000 for it...

Fun, in a weird kind of a way.

This one would be around 133bhp being a carb version but agree with points
