I had a 2016 RS6 (albeit not the "plus") and I found it possibly the most boring execution of a V8 I've ever owned. It sure was practical and inspired lots of confidence in poor weather/roads. The "sports" exhaust was rubbish and drowned any quality V8 notes. I'm sure an aftermarket system would have helped but I didn't keep it long enough to find out (6 months).

One of the most annoying things was that the sheer weight of the thing could not be handled by the standard alloys. These kept buckling under normal use and caused annoying vibrations which could not be ironed out with balancing. I don't drive on particularly harsh roads or do foolish launches or load cars excessively. Yet I had to buy an entire set of new OEM wheels for it in 6 months from Felmondo to fix this problem. I would bet the Merc does not suffer with this.

Surely you would have found this out when you took one out on a extended test drive before you bought it?

This happened after owning the car a few weeks. I suspect the wheels had been "straightened" prior to me buying it. The issue recurred of course. It is a well documented issue.

On the back of this review and various others I took the plunge and last week picked up a selenite grey E63s wagon.

So far so good, still running in but safe to say the performance is exceptional. Other highlights include the quality of the interior, the fun handling and the really very enjoyable steering feel. It genuinely does belie its size.

Missed your reply, from yonder and is probably academic, but i was talking about you saying.....
