The 5 Series GT has been replaced by the 6 Series GT. The 6 series coupe and GC is going to be replaced by the upcoming 8 series.
I believe the GC and convertible will survive however the Coupe will be replaced by the 8 series, doesn't make sense to me but that's what I read earlier this year....

Is it so called because it's a coupe that's been modified so your gran can fit in the back?
Rather than your (stereotypical) mother-in-law...
biggrin

I realise it's called a Sport Gran Coupe because it's for those older women who are still mobile enough to play tennis and bowling but who need a lift.

One of my neighbours has one, with some tuning house stickers all over the boot, bonnet, doors. Irmscher (maybe, i can't remember)? With those, silly bling wheels, and the proliferation of ///M badges, it just looks a bit... desperate. Hes also got a BRG, debadged XK8 which looks far nicer.

biggrin If that's not a reason to buy a two seater, I don't know what is.

I've fancied one of these for a while and might take a punt next year once they drop under £20k.

They are still dropping, although I can see a floor at some stage.

There is no floor for big beamers, they just slow down a bit. Only the M's find a bottom then climb in my experience.

I had a 2014 640d Coupe in Imola red for just under 3 years, i fell in love with the looks and needed something for a long commute. It was pretty good but does have major failings, some could be fixed others couldn't.

For example
- hideous rear seats, completely pointless and only a smurf could be seated there!
- terrible ride on the RFT's but massively improved after getting decent non-RFT;s
- numb steering, it's great driving it a 7/10's but don't try and hustle it down a back road!
- rear brake pads, the car's traction control system is very intrusive and brakes the rears too often when driven hard

I averaged 38mpg over 30k miles with my best 52mpg on a long drive. Even hammered it would barely drop below 25mpg.

My car listed a touch over £70k but no-one pays that and I got mine with a £23k discount with an exceptionally low APR and 5 year servicing thrown in.

I'm in a 440i now with the new B58 and the MPPSK and I am much happier. Missed the petrol engine and the exhaust noise. I still catch myself looking at 640's when they go past and admire their great looks.

Reckon these may just droip below 10k, but cant see them reaching 5k (in a half decent condition). BMW have shifted a fair few of these on some good business lease deals so think they are common enough to come down to barge territory,

For those owners or potential owners i found getting mine on a Hunter with someone who knows how to do alignment made a significant change to the steering and general dynamics.

It does slightly compromise tyre life to do so and in winter is not 100% ideal but in Summer is much more enjoyable to drive.

What alignment settings did you give it?

IIRC around £1400 as the whole unit needed to be replaced, not just the glass. Was hoping to get some goodwill from the dealer as I had the car only a month or so but no ball; ended up getting an OEM piece fitted by a specialist.

ETA that included labour.

That's cheap, knowing how much BMW charge for a windscreen I was expecting 2 grand minimum.

Agree and that isn't too bad, BMW wanted over £300 just for the glass for the wing mirror on my M3.

I think BMW wanted £1800ish for the work; got lucky with a German specialist in west london. BTW when I said whole unit, I meant frame + glass; the mechanics for the roof were not replaced.

Always really liked this car. Very sharp design and both elegant and aggressive as opposed to just aggressive like most of their designs. Seems like a complete bargain.
