Other than the wheels/ tyres what's the biggest difference between the pure and legende models? The website isn't user friendly for an old dog like me and apparently all the action happens on an app.

In all honesty either car can be specced much like the other. The Pure comes with the buckets as standard, the Legend with the electric seats. The Legend also comes with the Focal Sound system, front and rear parking sensors and rear camera. The Pure comes with 17" wheels the Legend with some (rather ugly to my eyes) 18s, but again you can change the wheels. Both come with smaller brakes than the PE - but they can be upgraded. There are minor (to me) differences of interior trim. I think the Legend has an autodimming interior mirror.

Only the PE gets the sports exhaust, folding mirrors and "telematics" (all sorts of engine info, stop watch etc) as standard - but it's an option on the others. There is also an option for a subwoofer add-on to the Focal system

The original intention was that the Pure would be really stripped down and 24kg lighter than the PE - but that's now gone by the board and all cars now appear to have climate, sat nav, keyless entry, LED lights, auto wipers. There are options for aluminium footrests and a storage bin behind the seats

The PE has some minor trim and wheel differences (forged diamond cut wheels as standard) and everything but the front parking sensors, rear camera (big pity), storage bin and subwoofer. I think the original intention was for the PE to stand out as genuinely different to other models (however specced). That has largely disappeared - but the PE is probably 4 or 5k cheaper than others to the same spec (exactly how much depends on the price of the extras)

That may not be the last word and I think the situation is still a bit fluid.

V useful, thanks. I like the idea of the smaller wheels and buckets but being a London car would want parking sensors. Bigger brakes etc not worried about as it would never go on track. Will try again with the website...

On the website, if you go to the model info page and scroll down to where it shows the versions, click over to the pure one and there's a link called download the documentation. That's a PDF with the spec of the Pure and Legend. Minus the prices and any photos of the smallest wheels of course wink

Pure and legend also introduce some new colours. Dark blue was at Geneva and looks very nice, if a little purple in the show lights, but they didn't have any grey ones there.

I'd like to see one in Renault liquid yellow.

I'm afraid that the range of colours, blue apart, is decidedly conservative. As happens (luckily) I really like the car in blue - but I think the rest of the colours - black white or grey are rather dull. Even Porsche - who major on pretty dull colours too - have red and yellow.

It does look great in the blue. I hope they introduce more colours over the years.

The blue looks even better in the flesh to my eyes, the black one they had... thumbs down for me. The car needs a popping colour, not a dull one.
Would be interesting to see how a bright colour would sell. Yellow is actually a poor seller for Porsche - and affects resale values adversely. Somehow yellow on Porsche seems (to me) too "in yer face", yet seems fine on a Lotus (I've had 2 in yellow). Or is that just a load of psycho-babble.

I love the idea of the A110 in red but am surprised they haven't made this an option.

Anyone heard any updates regarding UK deliveries?

Still June for PE first deliveries, I believe. My dealer originally said they wanted to deliver all PEs by the end of August (related to new world emission standard - but I can't see how that affects UK deliveries) Personally think it will take beyond August in any case - I just can't see all 130 (or however many UK PE deposits they have) to have signed up by then. In any case we have 6 months from when orders are officially open (which they aren't here yet) to confirm or reservation. So in theory someone could wait until Nov/Dec to confirm their order.

Which dealer do you have, as Solihull one is still a building site with at least a month to go before being habitable ?

Personally found the process of buying an Alpine to be very poor to date. Updates are non existent via the App and no dealers have knwoedkege to share any info. Very poor buying experience

My dealer is Winchester - he has been much more communicative than others I've spoken to. He seems as frustrated about the lack of communication as his customers. As you say, not the best buying experience, but I don't regard dealers as the best conduit to knowledge of their product. I'd go so far as to say that I've never got to the point of buying a car where I didn't know more about the aspects of the product that I was interested in than the salesman. I am a nerd - but still.

I do hope that Alpine don't go in for all this "reveal" nonsense that Porsche seem to. (I'll warn my dealer in advance about my possible reaction).

If you mean car covers and velvet ropes etc, then I wouldn’t be surprised! Renault are expecting it for their mainstream cars so Alpin will definitely get all that jazz!

Hmm... I've mixed views on this. I bought a Porsche once and it was left outside in the rain when I picked it up. On the other hand, my wife bought a new Captur once and they did the whole reveal thing. It was an agonising process...

My dad bought a new Renault recently and they pretty much left the car in the car park, threw him they keys and waved goodbye. He complained but at least it was sunny outside...

There is a happy compromise - just explain any quirks of the car (I'd hope the salesman had some idea whether I am a completely numpty or not).

The reveal seems to be a thing these days, but IMO more of a marketing gimmick aimed at other potential buyers "look our cars are special and we treat our buyers like royalty"

My Evora was recently in the body shop for a small job, when I went to pick it up in was in a glass showroom slowly revolving on a turntable smile

My Mrs picked up a 6 year old mini from a Mini dealer and she got the full "reveal" treatment.

Flowers, chocolates, car covered in showroom with barrier around it and a big sign with her name on it. They videod her collection and sent her the video afterwards.

She loved it.

Whatever blows your skirt up and all that, but I cannot think of anything more cringe worthy. If I turned up to that when collecting a car, I think I'd die of embarrassment. As long as it's clean and ready to go, that's fine - just chuck me the keys and let me get on my way biggrin

This is the conversation we have with manufacturers who want everyone to have the full reveal treatment, not everyone wants it and it will make some people feel like pillocks.
