I have been contemplating whether to go Ceramic, PPF or both.

Full PPF, whilst no doubt good is expensive and its difficult to see how you will get your money back.
I have read mixed reviews of Ceramic, some people swear by it and others think its effect disappears rather quickly.

I suppose the PPF is going to be worth it if you are going to try and keep it as a long term classic investment.

I am more inclined to drive it like I stole it and enjoy the car and it will be what it is when, one day, I sell it.
Not sure I can see these as a 'long term classic investment', good though they are.

Better to put your money in a 4C or an earlier Porsche if that's your priority.

You may well be right - certainly if the A110 continues to be a success one imagines there will be even better versions and the kudos of the original PEs will be limited. Paradoxically if it's a commercial failure, it will likely become a classic. The 4C is very flawed and the coupe is being axed - but, as you say, may well become a collectors item - and I'd bet will (quite spuriously) be viewed more kindly with hindsight. Even DeLoreans have become collectors items!

4c is growing on me so I might take a look when prices bottom out. Alfa were doing ridiculously cheap deals on them last year so I expect a lot to hit the market at the same time over the next year or so and that will keep prices down.
The A110 is not an investment - just look how prices of older Alpines compare to peers. Not a great performance financially but this is a great looking car and seemed great to drive in my short test drive.
I think there will be a premium for the next 12 months .

Depends I think, on how many 'Pure' cars available.

As the more focused drivers car, and the lightest, I would expect this is to be the one most in demand.

There is going to be a waiting list of a year or more for any new car - there are over 5000 orders outstanding. I suspect that the long wait will artificially place a ceiling on the orders - and hence there will be a strong demand for used cars. I wouldn't disagree with miserablegit that a premium will exist for PEs for quite a while yet - not least because to spec a Pure or Legend to the same level will cost about £4000 more than the price of the PE. Of course not everyone will want all of the PE options, but you don't have to spec that much before matching the PEs price.

The asking prices for the "flipper" cars on AT seems to suggest any premium will be limited. I suspect these cars will have a good following until people are bored and move on. I recall the M2 experiencing the same. Slow production initially led to some premiums but prices have followed most M cars since. And the new Performance Pack version hasn't helped.

I see that Targa Florio has one advertised at 60k. I'm sure it will shift though given who they are....

The only 4c I've seen was at an Alfa dealer.

i understand the desire to protect your new P&J. i fitted Ventureshield to a car.
I'm now of a view to simply respray after 5 years if needed. Even 2k for a full front spray is reasonable by comparison.
PPF still shows marks from big stones and, unless you cover the entire car, a respray would fix all the other little scratches you may have too. Oh, and you can drive her NOW!

4C prices have bottomed and are gently rising at the moment, and there aren’t many decently specced cars for sale.

Why? There are hundreds of the bloody things on Autoscout at the moment, many with delivery miles. People are not buying them.

Don't know why, but been following prices for 6 months and they've crept up.

Hang on, Autoscout... laugh
Forget Europe and LHD, look at how many for sale in the U.K.

Hmm, that's still quite a lot especially as we head towards Autumn.

Anyway back on topic . Pick mine up next week and can’t wait. Not going to the goodwood event as am away then but would have been keen to try some of their alpine fleet around the circuit. Hope the weather is good for member’s meet next year so I can drive it there and not get stuck on the grass/swamp.

Picked my Alpine up this afternoon. My captain's log supplemental is on the RAOC site - but doesn't change my opinion that it is a fabulous fun car - it reinforces it, even restricted to running in speeds. Perhaps the biggest surprise was how much quieter the Alpine is than my 981 was cruising at motorway speeds - especially on course surfaces. That the Focal audio is better than the BOSE is no surprise - but the quiet and improved sound means that it is actually worth listening to music on boring journeys.

Nice work bcr. But please stay away from spats and pointless circular debates on other areas of Pistonheads! ;-)

You have a point - but while the circular debates doubtless won't convince those who have entrenched positions, it just might convince some by-standers to at least give the A110 a try. In any case I shall probably mainly stick to the RAOC forum - since I've sold the 981 and can't see me buying another Porsche in the near future, the RAOC forum is of more intererest. Now I've got the car it will be more relevant to share experiences with other owners.

I am with you on that one. It's a bit like Apple and Android phones I have found. I'm an Android fan by the way...

I digress. I finally pick mine up this weekend having been away for a while. It seems like deliveries have really picked up speed.

Are you in the South East area? Would be good to arrange a meet of some sort.
