Good car or not, I wouldn't pay much attention to a 70 year old scribbler telling me it's as much car as I can use.
Bit unfair. I know of another 70 year old guy on this forum with an Alpine and he would probably agree it is as much car most of us can use - especially on UK roads. And judging by his driving skills he is very likely to be able to use more of it than you or I!Edited by Prestonese on Friday 21st September 08:41
I took a trip out to Duxford ahead of the airshow tomorrow. Managed to find a perfect spot next to a very shiny 370z.
Sorry for the potato-cam (tm) picture.
Tending to use it in semi-auto these days now I can use a few more revs- Just leave it in auto and the paddles drop it to manual for a short period as and when you need. I'm loving empty roundabouts as, I understand, do a few others. I haven't bothered working out mpg but I'm not visiting the petrol stations as often as I thought - seems to have a range of 305 miles.

I see this a lot. Bear in mind the car you see is still the Premiere Edition, which is a specced up version of the "Pure", and is meant to be the back-to-basics version. It should be compared to the Elise, say.
The other model, the Legende is the nearer equivalent to the mainstream competition so interior finish should be compared with that.
On a side note, I recently tried to get scratch and dent insurance but couldn't because Alpine is not listed in Glass's Guide which is what they use. I contacted Glass's and they admitted their shortcoming, saying that Alpine will be added but not until their next version which comes out at the end of October. I know I can get the same insurance from the dealership, but they just double the price.
On that note, it seems PistonHeads uses Glass's list too, so it's not possible to have the car listed properly in your PH profile.

Another example of someone who appreciates who Alpine are and where they came from back in the day. I'm guessing that initially the average owner may be a little older than average for that reason alone.Well I drove my son to a rugby competition in Brentwood in the filthy weather yesterday - Car was surefooted but I kept to the limit anyway. Passed a poor soul in a silver bmw who'd spun and smashed the rear end up. Police were just about to close the road for recovery.
Interesting spot on the way was an alfa SZ - they still look great. They look smaller these days now that golfs etc have grown. My exclamation of "Il Mostro" was met with bemusement from my passenger...

My girlfriend made a reservation of the new A110 after a test drive this summer. As a petrolhead I gave it my full 100% approval She was completely in love with how it drove and how it looked (previous daily car was a 2006 BMW Z4M). Yesterday she signed the contract for her dark grey Alpine Legende with 18" Premiere Edition Fuch wheels and sport exhaust... It's her daily car, so she choose the Legende instead of the Pure. It's the 3the ordered A110 in grey and she is the first girl in our country to order A110. Will be cool to see it sitting in our garage next to my grey M2....this will be at the end of 2019.

Well done her! Did you actually get the PE edition Fuchs wheels? I thought the Legende and Pure could only be specified with monochrome non-diamond cut wheels rather than the dual colour diamond cut ones of the PE. Personally I'm not keen on diamond cut wheels, so I'd probably prefer the Fuchs wheels I thought the Pure and Legende had as options. You can follow her car adventures on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drivediva/

She has great taste. I had a Z4M prior to the Alpine. I do miss that 7800 RPM rev limit on the zed and I thought the gearbox was very clunky and old fashioned and therefore superb. The Alpine chassis is a lot more fun though. You can follow her car adventures on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drivediva/
Both are wonderful cars but in very different and very interesting ways.

You can order the PE edition Fuchs wheels as winter or summer from the accessoires catalogue. https://alpinecars.com/fr/categorie_accessoires/ja...
She ordered them as winter wheels with winter tyres. But the PE edition wheels will become her summer wheels and the Serac wheels the winter wheels (they are going to switch the tyres between the Fuchs and Serac wheels when the car is delivered).
We went to see the Legende in real live at an outdoor carshow and the grey color looked awesome! The comfort seat of the Legende were also nice...and sit low enough at the lowest seating position. She needs to sits higher then me, because she is shorter then me (I'm rather tall). It's my girlfriends car, but I will drive it also when not driving my M2... So fixed bucket seats from the Pure and PE would be a pain to adjust in height (with the bolts) each time when someone else drives the car....and she is also addicted to heated seats in winter time

I think for the PE to have been considered truly special it needed to have some trim features that are not available on the Pure/Legende ... I think that’s only true of the wheels.
You can order the PE wheels separately and fit them on a Pure or Legende: https://alpinecars.com/fr/categorie_accessoires/ja...So only the PE edition emblem in the car and the lower price (for the options in combination with the car) are the things that separate the PE from an equally specced Pure.

All things being equal I'd prefer to start with a Pure too- the PE has stuff I'm not fussed about (folding mirrors, telematics and probably the big brakes) and the sports exhaust which I would prefer to do without (since it's not switchable).
I was under the impression that the sports exhaust (fitted as standard on the A110) is switchable (louder in sport and race setting). I speak French also, so this is what it says on the Alpine website.Edited by Franzino on Tuesday 13th November 23:31
[quote=Franzino]Last week my girlfriend (who is future owner) was invited to drive the A110 for a couple of laps on track. Our friendly Alpine dealer arranged it that I could come along and drive the car also
Very well organised day by Alpine...and also nice to see some other future owners.
Looks a fun day- has gone down like a lead balloon with quite a few owners as the owners had to pay to attend and prospective owners were given it for free...
Anyway onto better news, one of the owner sites made me aware of this:
http://www.litchfieldmotors.com/blog/alpine-a110-e...
Litchfield have got the A110 up to 300bhp and 300lbft.
At the moment I don't need any more power but it's good to have the option when I get used to the power it has...
