Oh well no response from Alpine- not even an acknowledgment so I presume my email has been filed in the "ignore" section!

No option other than to sit tight but it is frustratring with no centralised info and rumours circulating to fill the space...All I want to know is will my selection of dealer have an effect on my test-drive and delivery times? Bit of a shame there's no contact info on the app.

Still at least they are good enough to take a deposit from a member of the public unlike another manufacturer's dealer who told me:

"At ******* Centre ********* we do not work on a ‘waiting list’ or ‘first come, first serve’ basis. If any future decision comes for us to allocate these cars to customers, such allocation will be undertaken at our sole discretion. In exercising such discretion, we may use such criteria as we may deem appropriate at the relevant time."

Has anyone found out anything substantive about what actually caused the fire? Is the issue the reason that dealers in France are being delivered static cars first - which can't be used as demonstrators?

Where has this news come from? I’ve googled it but no luck.
Just changed my dealer thanks to Penelope as it seems some dealers are closer to deliveries than others. Very small chance I think that I might have it for lemans but we haven’t discussed specifics yet!

It just looked like any car could have been burnt in the photos I've seen. No evidence that it was an Alpine. The first photo was an Alpine and the second was taken roughly in the same environment with nothing which points to it being the same car. Unless there's a video or some other evidence, I'm filing it under fake news....

There are some other pics and videos and the ones with the wheels uncovered look very Alpine. If it's a hoax it's a very well constructed one.

Certainly looks like an Alpine to me, at very least it's a mid-rear engined car with an aluminum chassis and similar-looking wheels.

I don't think the wheels are right, they certainly don't appear to be the same style as the un-damaged blue Alpine wheels, from the very small un covered area that is visble.

I do - the spoke design and the small section that pokes out on the rim with "Alpine" stamped on it visible on the near wheel section, and the whole wheel visible behind has a) the right brake to rim size and b) the right spoke size and spacing.

Don't forget the wheels will have all their finish burnt off them.

Not that one bursting into flames matters.

That is the bit that I can't see.

I could believe the wheels are the (non diamond turned) Fuchs forged wheels that are an option on the Legend, rather than the PE wheels, thought the "rally" car clearly has PE wheels.

These things happen but its not going to be ideal publicity when that episode airs, to say the least.

On Sky News now.

Bit of a non story though. Remember all those Ferrari’s etc bursting into flames a few years back?
