RE: Alpine A110: Driven
Discussion
I don't "do" twitter or facebook- I'm happy with my life but can't see anyone else being interested in it !
I'm a fan so don't want to rant on every thread but perhaps I will - seeing as that thread is going through the bullsh*t pages of "is it dsg or manual" ,"Oh, it's sh*t without a manual so I'm not going to buy one". "what, a turbo- there'll be loads of lag"...Can't believe there are two threads with duplicate posts (another reason I haven't posted on there!) but this is pistonheads..repetition matters.

You should try calling or messaging a few of the dealers or the Renault Retail Group who have a couple of the Alpine franchises. They have been more responsive when I've left messages. Failing that I think you would have an email somewhere from Michael van der Sande if you ordered a PE. You can always try going straight to the top.I'm a fan so don't want to rant on every thread but perhaps I will - seeing as that thread is going through the bullsh*t pages of "is it dsg or manual" ,"Oh, it's sh*t without a manual so I'm not going to buy one". Had a look around one of these last weekend. They don't look particularly special, inside or out. Sound okay when rolling, with a few pops and burbles.
And the verdict is in. Yipper has spoken... You can all cancel your orders. Ha- reminds me of the ORIGINAL audi adverts- "Nah, not for me" - In that case I'm convinced it's the right car for me!
What is it with people on pistonheads and mythomania? 10 billion posts in 2 years and, presumably, not one of them worth a fart.

Fair enough... What I'm getting at is that your last post was partly in the hope that someone from Alpine might see your post if you're lucky, and they're more likely to see one on the newer- and front-page-of-PH listed- thread than on this one. That's assuming that doing the usual phoning thing isn't more productive. Best of luck.

A misplaced rant on pistonheads is a much better use of time !

Did you really. Where was that then? But you won't answer because you didn't. Tit.

I didn’t mean to sound dismissive- wasn’t the intention. You are completely correct and there are better ways of getting their attention but I’m not that bothered that I’ll open social media accounts. I spoke to a few dealers and they acknowledged the lack of information -they sound as frustrated I am so I don’t expect any response

Don't worry, I didn't take it as dismissive. And this while forum is built up on misplaced rants. A misplaced rant on pistonheads is a much better use of time !
I got a call from Alpine today. Anyone else get the same?
Am told UK is behind schedule and PE cars will probably be delivered at the end of this year and into 2019. The production will be in 3 batches with the first likely at the end of summer. Sounds like the centres won't be ready until mid summer at this stage.

No- had no communication from Alpine or dealer.
Thank you for updating us. Have you already signed up for the car ? Just trying to work out why I've heard nothing. With only 100 PE coming to the UK it's not many customers to contact is it?
I haven't signed anything yet as I think that's only possible once the dealers are up and running. It was more a courtesy call to be honest but I did manage to get some of my questions answered. Hi all,
The first PE was delivered last Friday in Grenoble. You'll see pictures scrolling down the link.

On next page is another delivery truck.
Don't know about UK deliveries though.

Currently a 997 Gen II owner -I'm giving an A110 Pure a serious thought at the moment all the Premier Editions are gone but to be honest i prefer the darker blue of the recent model launches .
Big rally fan and have loved the Col de Turini launch videos and was a big follower of the A610 back in the day. I believe the mix of modest power and lightness are the way to go for this size of sportswear. Recently drove an 718 S but it left me unmoved - fast and efficient but was lacking any soul.
Couple of things that hold me back are whether the Alpine Centres will be able to back up the product in the UK at the right level and will the residuals in the UK reflect the low production numbers ? .... who knows yet.
Anyway I'm looking forward to when the demonstrators come into the UK and taking one for a drive, whilst I know the 997 will have it licked for outright pace hopefully the A110 will offer real character.

I'm sure that residuals will be strong in the short to medium term given the long waiting lists (very strong for the PE I hope!) For the Pure and Legend in the longer termI think it depends on the UK price in pounds. I notice that they haven't quoted a price in pounds - though they have in Swiss Francs. The 718 is much cheaper and better equipped in the UK than it is on the continent - the price hasn't been adjusted since the fall in the pound. As a result the Pure and Legend in particular look quite pricey at the current exchange rate. The PE is still quite a bit cheaper than a 718 to a similar spec at the current exchange rate. So I think the Alpine's attractiveness in the UK will depend on whether Porsche hold the Cayman's price down.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
