I'll look forward to hearing your news on the pick of your A110 PE

Certainly looking forward to seeing how the launch of these in the UK goes and whether it will be followed by an A110S .

Dealer is saying they expect first cars in in mid may - so will take a rather long drive down to the scottish dealer then . Pure deliveries are looking like Q1 2019.

My Current Spec Thoughts are : A110 Pure in the Bleu Abysse on Serac Wheels .

An A110S is a bit problematic - the current car is at the limit (320nm) of the current 7 speed gearbox. The DCT 6 speed of the Megan is a possibility assuming it will fit, but how good is it? Clearly there is a marketing case for a more track orientated A110, but personally I doubt I'd want more power or a more compromised suspension as I will rarely, if ever, track the car.

They could add top-end power without increasing peak torque.

I’ve just seen the top gear trailer for the Alpine review. It’s being shown next weekend. Wonder if we’ll have any more info from Alpine by then? (No, I know we won’t )

My own thoughts on an S would not necessarily be that they reworked the suspension - just perhaps a 15% increase in power to around 290 bhp .... similar to the power differences between the 718 and 718S. You're right nor something you'd need on UK roads but handy on the German Autobahn - I tend to use my car for a bi annual european trip and that extra kick comes in handy.

the downsides might be what the limitation of the diffuser is and when they may need to fit further aero at the back which would loose the beautiful clean lines at the rear.

I'd imagine we'll see ever more powerful models and brighter paint jobs over the coming years .

.
I did wonder whether the 155mph speed cap was because of aero issues - but since the car apparently develops nearly 200kg of downforce at that speed that doesn't seem likely. I concluded that the cap was to disguise the fact that it will barely go faster anyway and is geared for 155mph at 6000 (peak power) in 7th.

They would have to maintain the peak torque all the way to nearly 6500 to achieve 290bhp. Possible with a bigger turbo I suppose, but you would, presumably, pay a price in extra lag.

It was indeed on Top Gear ... but it didn't survive.

That lag could be addressed by a twin turbo set up.

Really shocking how quickly it went from warning light, to loss of power, to being properly on fire.

Scary stuff.

Teflon balls required to spend real money on one of these over a Cayman S.

Nah! Pre production prototype. I'd be happy to run the finished article.

Was really hoping it would be a bit of a giant (porsche) killer but didnt seem to do anything better than the Cayman S, apart from roll, a lot.

The roll is what he enjoyed and thats what these cars are about.

The fire isnt very good PR for them, regardless if its pre production or not.

Braver man than me. The negative air-con is one thing, but the strident price as well, while being less than inspiring in other ways would definitely see the cash not leaving the bank.

Needs more IMHO. Either a love of all things French, or something exciting or unique. A messed about Mégane RS in a nice frock isn't enough.

What? rofl

What a ridiculous thing to write. Have you missed the completely bespoke aluminium shell, running gear and mid engine layout? rofl

It has an engine from the new Megane RS and some switchgear but a ‘Megane RS in a nice frock’ it is not. No more than a Porsche being a ‘beetle in a nice frock’ if we’re going to throw around some stupid cliches.
