Same with LTs

https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

Less than 2K miles and well under £300K. Where it would have been roughly 340 upwards a while ago.
I bloody love an LT and always hoped one day to put myself in one...so a price correction might mean I can bring that dream a little closer and when I achieve it, actually be able to drive the thing without fear of 'adding miles'.

As for that particular one, the colour is a little MArmite for me. If I had to go bright colour it would be the green, but ideally I prefer darker colours to take some of the edge off the metaphorical 'shout' that goes hand in hand with Supercar driving.
I also like them a lot - only modern McLaren bar the P1 I would really like - hopefully they keep dropping

The paint colour has very little to do with the aero, you know....
True, but if you don’t think red makes a car faster then you’re clearly a bit simple. biggrin

An improvement?
McLaren didn't design this to require improving dontcha' know. Its a demonstration in engineering/aero/lap time prowess and that's it...right?

However, accepting it is indeed an improvement it's a very easy one to make, daubing it in heart string-pulling livery (camouflage?) cannot fail to improve on what was/is a pretty low point aesthetically...

Can we have a Harrods one and perhaps Gulf too? see if they can hide the 'engineering'

I haven't said paint has anything to do with improving the aero ?
Painting it pretty colours is a very simple visual trick to help enthusiasts 'get on board'
Porsche did it to the 918...a car that didn't need it but still looked cool with it.
Senna needs it....
(and no veggies on my person Ross....no need for snide assumption)
Yup.

Whilst a crap colour will always be crap. Cars that are this colour sensitive don't tend to be lookers. Especially if they work best in dark colours. Or as in the case here, with retro-esque liveries.

Given that they painted the P1 in tributes of Senna and Prost helmets, I think other "display" liveries are a certainty.

This helps a bit. I like the front end at least.

sorry but...these race liveries on a road car....this road car...simply a pig in a dress
rofl
Why not just paint it yellow with some blue and green stripes ??

Or preferably paint it black, put some super invisible but oh-so 'on-trend' black alloys, murder-it-out bruv, drive it at night and jobs a good'un.
Or get whatever spec you like and save it for track days where you'll definitely drive it on the limit.

You are really bizarre. Did Ron Dennis kick your dog or something? Why do you hate it that much?! laugh

That's not a darker colour, that's night time.

It definitely looks better at night time.

I don't think it's any uglier than a fiat qubo to be fair.....

That does look a lot better. Drop the logos/numbers and it would work for the road. Unless you are a bit of a geek, you would not know it was a 'race livery' - just think it was a suitably flamboyant paint job.

It helps a bit, in that it distracts the eye from the odd proportions, a bit like those wartime navy camouflage paint schemes designed to confuse U-boats.

I don't hate it. I just think it's looks gross. Pretty sure it goes alright.
But on the whole hyper-super-mega cars should (imo) look super too. And this just doesn't no mater how much make up you put on it.

Thanks for checking me out in so much detail E65, you weird little stalker you hehe
Thankfully the Qubo only has ot be economic and practical.... it won't and doesnt need race livery wink

When discussing a car neither of us own, only a complete twunt goes digging to that extent...
"so we here we have a triple turbo 3 seater road and track car...."
"I don't like it"
"well your opinion is null and void because you drive a van"
"oh...what do you drive?"

:scractchin:

"...ahhhh yeah, FAR more relevant and pretty....

I wonder if they made him look at the Senna too much?

Joking apart, that's an interesting attitude from Aston, sounds like they're going to be producing more than the Valkyrie in terms of mid-engined cars.

There has been speculation for a couple of years that Aston will be adding mid engine stuff to their line up... it makes sense. Should they go into F1 as an engine supplier with RedBull it will tie in nicely.
They're assembling quite a chassis team at Aston... It'll be interesting to see where McLaren go for Chris's replacement.

Talking of colours.

I'm not a massive fan of the 720s. (Though certainly post Senna it looks like a bloody masterpiece of the ability to get proportions correct laugh )

But I saw this pic of a Papaya Orange one

If you ignore the daft colour interior, that looks half decent. Even the eye sockets look reasonable as it's a contrast.

(Not sure it'll ever be considered a classic mind)

But they're totally different confused

Look at how high the arches are in relation to the windscreen on each cars.....then the cooling ducts near the rear....bigger at the top on the Gumpert and vice versa for the McLaren. The McLaren has a totally different bonnet design (relatively "plain" on the Gumpert), there is totally different aero cues in front of the front wheels on the Gumpert compared to the McLaren. The air scoop on top of the Gumpert is also completely different.

They're a similar colour, and both are 2 door mid-engined cars but that aside, they're rather different.

I agree ref the deatil, they are obviously "different" i'm referring to the tacky add-on's that take a sleek shape and turn it into an aero-fest. I'm sure that the lateral aero grip is incredible, but the Mclaren looks like someone drove a mid engine supercar through an issue of max power and it's ended up looking like the Apollo.

It reminds me of Aston Martin, started off with the Vantage and the DB9 - then ended up with more and more bits added on, removing the simplicity of the lines and organic shape.

But it's a track car!!! McLaren make no excuses for the way it looks.

An interesting chat between 2 YouTubers and proper serious car guys about McLaren in general and why one has cancelled his order for the Senna. Not for the reasons most would think.
