Really like this colour, having recently seen it on an RS5

Interesting re the optional 174mph limiter, as previous RS4s kind of ignored their 155 limiters anyway

"BUT, what is it with modern wheel design? So much better"

It must be because they are the high cost forged versions - to save the prospective buyers going to Kahn for their 'flash wheels'

I totally agree about the design of the optionel ones on the car, aggressively flash for a car that tries hard to play down it's Uber Performance potential.

tyre pressure gauge (how does a 60k car not have this???)
Even the wifes cactus has one of those. Are Audi taking the piss?
Yes!
Not *entirely*...

Audi's have always had a pretty poor rotation-based TPMS (because that's now a legal requirement, AFAIK). No absolute pressure readings, no sensors in the valves.

The RS4 system seems to uses valve sensors that measure temperature as well as pressure, which is definitely a neat gimmick. (and more useful then differently coloured brake calipers, for example). If you don't tick the option you just get the basic system...

Nice car and all. But it's way too slow for a £60-70k model. It's slower than a stage 1 remapped Golf R Estate for half the price.

Ahm oot.

310bhp vs 450bhp....quite a difference.

But if you're saying just get a remapped Golf R, could you not just apply that logic and say "why not remap the RS4?"
true but with a £600 remap it'll do 3.7 0-60mph.
I suppose it's a good point about being able to do the same to the RS4, not sure if there's any tuners out there for it atm though?
you could buy 2 R's and remap them both for the price of 1 RS4!
most of the reviews of the RS4 state that it's fast but quite characterless, is the audi badge really worth such a large premium over the VW?

'Worth' is personal, subjective.

What you're really saying is you can't afford an RS4, which is fine. But you can't determine worth of anything without experiencing it first.

Just from the pictures, you can tell the RS4 will be a much nicer place to sit than the Golf. It also has 200mm extra wheel base, so clearly a nicer experience for passengers. Perhaps most importantly for us though, it has a more powerful engine than the Golf, and will sound better too. Yep, you could remap the Golf, but it won't make it sound like a six cylinder. You've also just teared up your warranty for the privilege.

Anyway, why stop at the Audi? You could buy 12 Golf Rs for the cost of a new Rolls Royce Phantom. In fact, you could perhaps somehow how connect all of the Golfs into some kind of mega Golf - 3,600bhp and seats for all your friends. And just imagine if you could map it!

Why is the Giulia apparently RS5, rather than this car’s, competition?
...er....dunno? Because they don't want the RS4 to lose to a young upstart? wink

This was my point when the RS5 was launched. They've chosen to give a brand new car less power than it's older competitors.

Can't say I'd like looking at the taillights of 2013 A8s during stoplight drag races.

I’m not saying you two are complaining about the car being under powered but in the M5 comments section, everybody was saying it has ‘too much’ power and can never be used on a day to day basis.

Audi are literally producing cars with less power and are focusing on the usable power and dynamics of the car.

If any car should have less power, it’s the hot hatchbacks...well the super hatchbacks! 400bhp from an RS3 with the same 0-60 figure as it’s bigger brother!

BMW are smart not engaging the A45 and RS3 in the horsepower war with the M2! It’s left a respectable gap between it and the M4.

A poster here mentions the RS3 being better than the RS4 because of the cheaper price, more exiting engine and small difference in performance. Not a good thing.

Basically, people will always moan

Now comes with Hancook tyres. So that's another £1k you need to budget for some decent rubber.
