This is pure cack from the VAG-PH group. Since when has hp been reason enough? Maybe PH has changed its demographic to cater for the "white German whip, black rims bro" crowd.
it doesn't say HP is reason enough, it says now the TT has 400hp its reason enough.

TT was already a good car, give it 400hp and it went from desirable to OMFG shut up and take my money.

This really is a serious weapon now. I'm seriously considering something 4wd next for my performance kick and a TT maybe well be on the radar. Sadly it would need to be a mk2 due to funds, or a mk1 sport...................................... frown

The TTRS has always been a weapon in all it's iterations.

This with even more power and a better 4wd set up is a winner.

Agree with the colour, usually love red but a metallic grey or a decent Audi blue would be nice.

Looking forward to the updates and enjoy the five cylinder, they are quite special!

Looks awful to me. The original TT was such a great design. The colour and wheels make this one looks terrible to my eyes.

I'd rather have the RS3 with the added practicality.

Good to see it in red - life is better with a colourful car, plus you can spot it in a car park. There's nothing worse than the endless sea of "serious" coloured cars, in ever increasing shades of bland. "My car is stealth, menacing" - no, it's grey.

Loved and still love the original TT, and I like this one entirely because of its engine and interior - they really do feel expensive. I'd have one, hands down, over the current Cayman - why would you buy a worse version of a car that was on sale a couple of years ago? I'd be surprised if Porsche aren't struggling to sell them. Nothing wrong with a 4 cylinder, everything wrong with one that isn't special.

All that said, I don't think I'd bother. I don't really know who or what it's for.

I've had 2 TT's, a MK1 225 Quattro... loved that car, not the last word in handling but it was better than most gave it credit for. Opened my blinds one morning and it was gone.. it was replaced by 2 Mk2 2.0 TFSI which I had for 4 weeks, got rid. I don't really count it as a car I had. The true replacement, a MK2 TTS I kept for 5 years... A good car, nice place to be, fast, but never exciting which I new when I bought it. The car I always wanted was a 981 Cayman S but I had a test drive of the new TTS. It is, IMO, a better car in every way than the previous TTS but in the hour I had it I felt nothing for it or from it. I got the Cayman.
I know the RS is a completely different proposition but being faster from here to there has never been my bag though I get why it's just the thing for some. The 718 is nice car and be surprised, they're not struggling to sell them. Some people don't care about the F4, some like the noise and others are prepared to live with it.
Hats off to Audi for that 5cyl engine and what it sounds like though... I'd like to have a peddle of an RS, just don't want one.

I have seriously considered one of these vs. F-types, R8s, various AMGs. The performance is very impressive, but it just doesn't look special enough to me . Don't think I would rule it out as the cost comes down which it seems to have done already.

It can be ordered with standard TT pop up job... No cost option.

Weren't all of the first batch of mark 3 TTRS spec'd by Audi UK as they wanted to lock the builds? Hence why so few of the early cars came with the pop up spoiler.

Audi said that this was because of limited production capacity in Germany but I suspect it was more about trying to generate extra margin. The early cars are normally spec'd with all the expensive options, should be a good buy once they have depreciated a bit.

I wonder if, when you get to a certain age, all spoilers, riciculous numbers of exhaust pipes etc. look dreadful? I love the idea of a GT4, but the spoiler stops me buying one. The Jag F Type - a really properly handsome GT shape they ruin on the top “racey” models with something to turn the head of an 18 year old Saxo driver. Same with the M2’s exhaust. For me, it’s embarassing. I’ve been looking at RS’s in the classifieds and they all have the spoiler, even though It can be spec’d without. Shame

I can feel myself slipping towards the new Alpine...

They are out there... Back when I was on the TT forum the odd RS owner spec'd theirs without the pram handle. I never liked it myself either.

A chap on the TT Forum specced his Lamborghini Verde Mantis using the Audi Exclusive paint option (£2400). He picked it up a couple of weeks ago...

Nice. Very nice.

Recently bought my wife this mint 27k mike Mk1 3.2 Quattro DSG as a toy antidote for her hybrid daily. It’s lovely.

I’m a confirmed Alfa fan but with them deserting the usable coupe market, the TTRS interests me a lot.

we need some kind of auto delete when people submit statements like this...

first off - the TTRS starts at £50k - try and spec another new car that matches the performance of the TTRS for any where near the same money..

Something else that might shock you.. you can spend £21k on a 1.5 auto honda jazz these days..
The car as tested is £61k, obviously you are a fan of small, expensive Audis. I'm not and even at £50k it's too expensive in my opinion (that's not a statement by the way).

How much should it be?

£1830 for ‘on the road costs’?
That would make me feel like the salesman/woman was raping me for fun!
I begrudge paying HM Government even a single penny, as I’m taxed on my pay, taxed on my fuel, food, clothing, and possibly soon it will include the air we breath, yet we blindly pay this as though it is something we actually agreed to.
I’ll wait until depreciation has taken a huge bite out of the value, and also smile that someone else has enjoyed the benefit of paying that £1830.
I’m sure there’s plenty who will pull me apart over this, but it just drives home how ridiculous costs have become...

I’d say £40k sounds right for half decent spec.

You do realise that £1200 of the £1830 is RFL and new car tax, which is totally out of the sales-persons control?!?

I agree with all the well thought through comments so far but I'm still uncomfortable with its soft curvy fairground dodgem car-like profile.
Spoilers, attempts at angularity & aggressiveness plus big glitzy wheels hide not its basic prettiness
