As depreciation goes, that will take some beating. £30k in 12 months? Ouch!
More.

£69,995 plus £1,105 for the sunroof, and £1,000 for the soundsystem.

http://media.lexus.co.uk/wp-content/files_mf/14673...

£72,000 all-in.

So £31k depreciation.

An old-shape M5 is similarly depreciated of course

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201... - was around £80k with options, now £42.5k @ 1 yr

I’ve alwaya thought these were a cool car, especially as I’ve never seen one on the road!

it doesn’t matter that they don’t have the power of the German rivals. It’s still an awesome engine, it just is a different sort of car. And all the more interesting for it.

Nobody ever pays list for these super saloons I'm guessing. Usually the discount is into 5 figures.

Nice car, great spec and good looks. And these big naturally-aspirated engines are a dying breed.

But, would I have one over an M5 or E63? No chance.

I don't think that's entirely correct. At £80k list price, it was possible to get £16k off and 0% Interest on them M5's.

It was therefore around £64,000 new so "only" lost 33% of its value. From what I can see the E63 has also faired slightly better than the Lexus.

It looks a cracking buy!! I wonder where/when it will bottom out? scratchchin

No, but the configurator has it at £73,375.00 without an option ticked. To match the BMW depreciation it would have needed at least 15% off the list price (circa £62,000).

If you can see past the “ooh, the M5 has more power” arms race, the GSF is every bit as good as the competition. Many journos appear to have forgotten when almost 500bhp in a car was rather a lot! It’s a wonderful car, I’d buy one in a heartbeat - oh, I did!

Which if you can get savings of that sort on the BMW, seems entirely plausible?

I'm not claiming that it wasn't/isn't. I know for a fact that you could get £16k off a £80k list BMW M5 last year if you played hard ball, I haven't heard of such discounts on the Lexus. Can't see Lexus giving 15%+ discount AND 0% Finance though smile

I guess the new model due to be launched meant BMW were keen to get M5's out the door. Can't see you getting anywhere near that on the new one.

Lovely car. I had the pleasure of sitting in one of these in the Lexus showroom and firing it up. Great sounding V8.

Got to confess I am quite a Lexus fan, being on my 5th car and currently owning two RXs. I agree with many of the above comments as to the very solid quality in Lexus cars, throughout. If you can look beyond the car's styling and performance and consider the passage of time, this GS F, I am sure, will represent a high quality, low stressed vehicle that has longevity on its side. A future classic for what it is.

I personally like normal aspirated engines and the way they drive (compared to say the non-linear response of a turbocharged engine), and had a couple of TVRs in the past (the DNA of this website!). This car is a luxurious barge that can ship a family and luggage around all day on the autobahn without breaking a sweat, or even be a drive-to-track day 'weapon'. I love that interior too. A great buy for someone.

I wonder if the price of these dropping will transfer to the ISF. They seem to be anywhere from £19 - 35k

Would be good as I am seriously considering one as soon as my daughter's Nursery fees drop.

ISFs seem to have been fairly constant for the last 2 years. Maybe the rarity factor?

Registered March 2016, so that's about £45 a day depreciation.

Great car though and if I could afford it I would.

Rough and ratty ones, which will be most of them in time, will end up changing hands at sub £5K in about 10 years before going to the scrapper. The few pretty, well-kept, low mileage ones will bottom out at about £10K and then start going up once the rough ones have all been turned into bean tins.

There are roughly 50 in the country and 10% of those are on the two threads reg GS Fs in this forum so are petrolheads I don t think a high amount will be treated badly as there is not enough mass more than 20 times the number of M5s or E63s...

The way i see it, it's just another bargain to be had. It's also got a lot less chance of bankrupting you in repair, servicing and maintenance costs. On the flip side though, it will likely continue to depreciate at an alarming rate. It just depends which one you want to take a chance with.

This GSF at least seems like a better effort from Lexus than the RCF. I'd actually really like an ISF for less pennies though.

I'm looking at getting an ISF next year - they've bottomed out at the £15k mark, with the odd ostensibly okay one up for £13k. That should prop these up at the 20-25k mark into the forseeable. Both are a much savvier buy than ageing M cars given limited numbers and reliability.

These deserve to sell a lot more than they do. Great to drive, really well built and tiny running cost relative to competitors. Yes the infotainment systems have their quirks and the design inside and out is less conservative than German cars but who wants to follow the crowd?

I wonder if it would be worth making an offer on this one? I've never dealt with Lexus so not sure how susceptible they are to dropping their prices. These are bigger than what I would be looking for to be honest but it could be a good buy for someone who couldn't stretch to a brand new one.
