You do have to be ahem travelling but the understeer is there the Evo6/7 are IMO crisper & you can carry more speed but I'd like to see a 450/500 2.3 Evo vs a similar powered RS3.

Remember people we may disagree but there's no need to get personal smile
Absolutely ZX I always treat people as they treat me and add a little for good measure smile

Coincidentally iirc one of my mates rode a Ninja. In most scenarios he had the edge on my Evo although a pair of linked, open roundabouts joining a slip road to a dual carriage left clear air in my favor. Hard to know if it was like for like skills, I had one very talented rider friend (the monster who took me pillion) but I'd say the lads I drove with were average. I'm distinctly average but the Evo truly flatters the average driver which is why I hanker for 4WD again. My current XFR is a shear joy but a bit like a bike I suppose it's so conditions dependent, that said it slips and slides everywhere but predictably so is still great fun, all be it slow progress in the damp.

More aware than you pal, considering my mate owns one of the biggest bike shops in the midlands. I'm well aware of who buys large sports bikes nowadays, it's basically who can afford them. The range of riding skills will be from terrible to very good. Name dropping aside I know Richard cooper well and a lot of people who have done classes with him have had to reevaluate thier own abilities. There seems to be a lot of ego at bike track days now as well, the modern bikes are just so fast I wouldn't go out there. A guy fell off at donnington and broke his back a few years ago wasn't a nice time. All I'm saying is that dsg boxes have made it easy to drive fast cars fast, like a computer game.
Yes you'll get a few egos at trackdays car or bike that will always be the case because we're human, I know lots of people in the bike industry from the Manufacturers/Tuners/Racers & event organisers.

I spend a lot of my time at tracks/shows/tuners premises yes the bikes are faster but they're also a lot safer, if you compare a 2006 GSXR to a 2017 GSXR the 2017 model is easier to ride fast (just like modern cars) although the 2017 model is making more bhp (but only by 14bhp) it's not the main reason it will be faster it'll be the better suspension/rider aids (tyre tech won't play a role as most bikes will have modern rubber on) help a rider make better pace.

I doubt that you're more aware than me my friend but you seem to (I could name drop but that's not what this thread is about) have made up your mind so I'll leave you to it, life's too short but from what I see at trackdays/Superbike School in the UK & Spain there are a lot of people trying to improve their skill sets, which contradicts your statement that no one is interested in improving their performance levels.

Jeez some people need to just drive their own drive.

Enjoy driving on the roads by all means but the speeds needed to differentiate a fast car and bike just aren't compatible with public roads.

Did PH actually drive the Litchfield RS3 advertised in this piece? It sounds more like a regurgitated press release.

So many accidents you've lost count! Priceless, you're great value mate and like 95% of the general public an expert on both aviation AND rail transport how very refreshing. Fact is I only know one person actually knows what's involved in both these jobs and matey it ain't you.

I like bikes, in their place, you should know yours in this conversation. That said I have no hard feelings chap, chill out and have a good one, I know Christmas can be a hard time for some and if that's you I'm sorry if I wound you up.
I should know my place in this conversation, eh? Hmm, Mr passive-aggressive ex-pilot, be careful you don't disappear up your own jacksie. But then, with language like "I've did some green laning", I have to say, I have some serious doubts that you're anything even remotely close to what you're claiming. Maybe "I've did some bus driving, innit" is closer to home.

Still, it is humorous to hear an "ex-pilot" being in such mortal fear of a lowly, lowly, vehicle which has a power rating of around 200 bhp, when a 747 has approximately 95,710 bhp...

I couldn't imagine anything more boring than babysitting a set of monitors for hours, days, weeks, months, and years on end in a pressurised tin can full of the recycled air from god-only knows how many cold, flu, and other disease-ridden passengers. Merry christmas.
Graced by gods gift to the world of motor cycling again, wonderful. 30 years riding various bikes in various places, a hero is born. Why is it so many bikers have such a high opinion of themselves but are shocked to find they don't engender universal gasps of awe?

Happy to admit I was terrified riding pillion, I enjoy speed per se but don't like being out of control. I might be a bit ropey on the nomenclature (look it up "Call me" big rob lol) I spent a summer the Yorkshire Dales with, now we are going back a bit but iirc the lads were fairly serious enduro competitors and I'd join them for some steady off road rides, trailing ,green laning not sure but it certainly wasn't up to your epic standards of, I'll say it again 30 years experience, gosh wow.

I'm glad you find my professional life hard to believe although it's not that amazing really, just depends on who you're comparing it to. Without wanting to give too much away, as you strike me as an bit of an unstable internet dwelling nutcase, the flying I did was probably as challenging as commercial flying gets, with a 3 crew heavy aircraft visiting 60/70 different airports a year and as you'll of course know, being quite the expert train driving is every bit as challenging all be it with different emphasis. What do you do "Call me" big rob, I mean flying aircraft is clearly below you (ironic pun, look it up "Call me" big rob) I'd be fascinated to hear?

The gift that keeps on giving. Buddy, I could not care less about you, or your claims to employment. Yes, I've spent a long time on bikes. There are literally thousands of people just like me that started riding as early as legally allowed, and keep going all through their lives. We don't seek your approval, your appreciation, nor your awe.

But it is what it is, and if you feel scared skirtless by bikes, the only person the poorer for it, is you.

You've been deliberately passive aggressive in your comments, and frankly started the BS, which is why I responded as I did.

You keep doing what you're doing, I'm sure driving a train is as exciting as watching paint dry. If I should happen to enjoy a bike ride without receiving a gasp of awe from you, I solemnly swear I will do my utmost to not be heartbroken.

Have you recently learned the term passive aggressive, you use it a lot, I'm not sure it makes you sound as clever as you think it does, the irony is, of course, over frequent use of the term passive aggressive is, in itself, passive aggressive, if you follow (fingers crossed). I can tell you don't care about me or my employment, presumably that's why you keep telling us how little you care about it, obvious really.

Big rob (call me big) I can rip you to shreds as long as you like mate, one of us is brighter the other, have you worked out which one yet?

I know I shouldn't bully but it feels righteous when one does it to a second rate bully wink

Oh you haven't told us the riveting career that benefits from your participation, the amateur psychologist in me thinks it might be a tad prosaic no?

When you start slinging st around and then tell people to "know their place", you come across as a first rate prick.

I just could not be bothered measuring penis sizes with you. My meter ruler is better served on other things.

You lost any moral high round as soon as you had to swear, still I think we're done here don't you biggus robus? I'll go back to enjoying a family Christmas and you and your crusty undercrackers can shuffle back over to the window to carry on shouting at passerbys “I like motorbike!” and the newly added “Pretend ex pilots are passive aggressive but I don't care, argh!!”

Hey you might get a visitor later who'll take you out for a walk, that should be nice. Seasons greetings Big R, stay on the meds this time. Get your motor running cos you were born to be wild. You'll always have those two minutes on the German autobahn where you lived more than any man has ever lived before!

Apologies to those this exchange has annoyed and to those it has entertained, you're welcome. Best wishes to all even you big man xx

I have no idea why motorbikes got mentioned on a car thread, it's like some people just have to "win" at all costs, nah that's not quick but this is...blah blah blah....

Seems to be the way of things on PH, every thread gets derailed by children arguing the toss about something completely unrelated to the original subject.

Why get a bike when you can drive Bloodhound....that kind of thing? Bike Vs car is always a bit stupid because anyone can drive/ride either; they are generally what they are in/on through choice.

Had one delivered for a customer yesterday, first thoughts are very nice but the exhaust looks half arsed they should be tighter to the rear valance.

They hang down to far, Audi have said they'll take it back & sort it although they said they're all like it so I'll keep you updated.

I'd imagine the RS3 would be a more comfortable place to be the other 9 tenths of the time when you aren't breaking the sound barrier.
I expect to get kicked off the thread here (ie Pistonheads etc etc etc) but any idea of the mpg of the 500bhp RS3? Evo's were always alcoholics of things, so I cant imagine what one tuned to 500bhp would be like?

Ps this is also more for technology comparison reasons, but I appreciate one does not mention silly things like mpg on here.
