That's all a given but you don't need to track a car to prefer one engine over the other in terms of enjoyment.
This.

People get very hung up on stats, and lose sight of what's most important.

in terms of drive-ability in the the majority of circumstances, the torque of a powerful derv motor is more usable than, say, wringing something out to 7000+ rpm to experience the power & torque developed there. But, again, in 25 years of driving, you tend to form your own opinions based on experience and preference. Ref the track comment, the tourer format wouldn't be the best format (queue a picture of bright yellow T5) but you have the option to really exploit the top end power of a decent petrol engine.

Horses n courses..etc.. Anyway, that F31 conversion .. err no thanks.

I like the F31 conversion but the wheels don't suit it.

In 25 years you never noticed that you can change down with a blip and get straight into the power band? No need to wait for revs to climb from idle lol. What else didn't you do in 25 years...

Plenty of things I didn't do in my 25 years behind the wheel but I have determined that accessible torque is a more useful commodity than pedalling like fk every time I want to get a push on.. I suppose you drive around like Ayton Senna everywhere.
