everyone hated the styling just as they did with the la ferrari

It was the latter part I was disputing. In the flesh it's literally breathtaking....
Stunning engine and sound, interesting surfacing, but lacking really quite a lot imo (other than investment value) compared with the rest of the market.

It's personal opinion, but on the three occasions I've seen a LaF in the flesh it's been side by side with the Pork and Macca - where it simply doesn't compete. The Pork is wonderfully 'finished' with superb details, the Mac is otherworldly. Both have exceptional fit and finish. Contrasted by panel gaps I could fit a thumb into, and orange peel a photocopier salesman would reject his 320d over...

They said that of the F40 vs the 959 and that's done OK for itself Stunning engine and sound, interesting surfacing, but lacking really quite a lot imo (other than investment value) compared with the rest of the market.

Ferrari Enzo, isn't a bad name I spose...but it was and is, not a good looking car...I feel it's brave, which in itself is a good thing, like Bangle's stuff... makes you think differently, and that should be applauded even if the result doesn't make you want it.
Using the same logic however, a McLaren Ron, would be a bad idea
A McLaren Senna, isn't a bad name in itself.... it's just I don't think it should be attributed to a road car......
A Ferrari Schumacher would be ok too...track only IMO again, not road related.
Ferrari LaFerrari is an atrocious name, but MUCH better looking and head turning in a good way, yes it has a large front overhang, but it's aero isn't as contrived, and the rest of the proportions are far FAR better, no ridiculous wing etc
I agree with previous poster... the P1 (or better yet P1 GTR...or betterer yet the F1) would have worn the Senna badge with more ease.
I agree except the original Zonda nailed the 'cab forward, long low rear' look far more effectively and 4 or 5 years (?) before the Enzo. IMO post GT3, 675LT and P1, McLaren have seriously lost their way with the 'functional' styling. I really hope the 720s and this mess don't hint at any design elements of the BP23...Using the same logic however, a McLaren Ron, would be a bad idea

Of course no right or wrong except to dispute everyone hated the LaF... name aside. I agree on your summary of the other two. P1 for me. As for panel gaps to quote Clarkson regarding the F40; "If I were a little thinner I could get in without opening the door".Quickmoose said:
I actually meant is was brave in terms of the ruler-centric design language not the cab-forward aspect....cos you're right the Zonda does that better....
I just don't get why they tried to graft an F1 front wing into the design but having done that it should rise to an equally aggressive F50/FXXK rear but it just meekly curves away to nothing through the rear lights. Really odd and looks even worse in real life... IMO Burnham said:
I'm sure its amazing, but even if I had the money I just couldn't.
They always said what would be the P1 be like if your removed all those heavy batteries. I guess we will now find out. Plus another 2 years or so of development. Gulp. I believe it still has simple hydraulic steering too??? If so then that is a great thing in 2018. The two big issues on the styling for me, are these two points
This car obviously needs a huge amount of air into the engine compartment from the first picture, that sidepod opening is huge and makes the style of the car behind it ugly.
You don't see that when driving of course.
Will this car be a game changer? I think so. Also looks cheap compared to the previous gen or hyper cars. This is a super car hyper car smearing of the boundary.

I actually don't mind the styling now I've had time to take it in. I think the light blue colour has been my favorite so far, I'm not loving the black to be honest and the orange of the launch car made it look awful which is a shame. What I would say is that if you compare the front 3/4 with the rear 3/4 the enlarged, elongated nose and the massive side intakes have had the effect of optically shrinking the wheels so that they don't look in proportion to the car when viewed from the front where as from the rear, because you can't see these features they look perfectly sized. It was a bit the same with the Enzo but it appears to be exaggerated here. Actually Senna would have loved this. If it was faster.
Do you think he cared what his race cars looked like?
That's for the viewers.
