Hyundai i30N - 3 and a half
Discussion
I would like to thank D200 - the i30N wasn't on my radar previously but thanks to this thread I have done some research and I will now keep a beady eye on second-hand prices over the next few years. It could be a good second car for the family Irrelevant - by all (well, most) accounts it's a very good car and at two years old it it will still have three year's warranty left. So cheers D200!

just watch out for those 2yr old cars with "16,000" miles on the clock.Aids0G said:
Well currently at 2k down for 36 months 20,000 m a year we are at £440 and hoping they will drop to £400pcm, will find out by the end of the day. The GTiI was a little cheaper think around £380 from memory under the same profile.
Hope this helps.
might be worth checking out the i30 N owners forum as seems some on their have got deals closer to £370 a month ( but fewer miles I think)Hope this helps.

Wow, that's pretty pricey! It's as expected really and can't really compete with it's competitors on the old never-never.
Seat Leon Cupra 300 from Seat Warrington is 1+23 profile, 8k per annum, personal lease, £269 pm with the same amount for the initial payment.
That's an absolute steal in comparison.
What’s the surcharge on that for 12k miles per year over the allowance? Seat Leon Cupra 300 from Seat Warrington is 1+23 profile, 8k per annum, personal lease, £269 pm with the same amount for the initial payment.

I think its a really nice car, no argument from me about that. You just got to want one really bad to pay a premium to be first in. Unfortunately at the moment the numbers just don't stack up right for me. Based on list prices alone its placed about right, but who buys cars at list nowadays and the respected completion is readily available with £4k+ discounts.
I started looking at the Performance model a few weeks back, I like the car but am wary of the overall ownership cost given the likelihood of heavy depreciation. The full list price is the same as I can get a Golf R or GTI PP via any of the usual broker sites. Initially brokers were also showing the N with a strong discount too maintaining the difference to the price that I could get either of those Golfs for. This made it of interest to me. Suddenly The N is only available at full list, likely because of strong initial interest, I even had a Carwow offer retracted by a dealer.
Even if you did personally feel it was worth as much to you as the Golfs mentioned, the resale may potentially bite and make it even more expensive over the time you own it than a car in a much higher category. Are Hyundai that confident about residuals given the low GFV I've seen banded about. I think for the car to sell in any volume some strong discounting may happen when the initial demand slows or Hyundai just hope the competition remove all of their discounting.

Personally I'd love it to take a tanking on the residual. Will make for a nice 2-3 year used car price.I started looking at the Performance model a few weeks back, I like the car but am wary of the overall ownership cost given the likelihood of heavy depreciation.
