Have had my Black edition Cupra for just under a year now.Love the pace, diff, build quality and looks.
Only major problem is the epic axle tramp.Sounds like someone is chucking bricks at the bottom of the car.
Anyone know of a fix?
Same as my Golf. £41.40 and 20 mins under the car and it was 90% gone: https://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/Dogbone_Bush_Ins...

No association etc with Forge, but I ordered it at 1.21pm one day and it arrived (with free P&P) less than 24 hours later (12.56pm) the next - can't complain!

Wow really such a cheap simple solution..my cupra 300 does this in this weather at times.
Wouldn’t have a clue where or how to fit?
Take it a fairly simple job for a mechanic, also how many do I need please, just the 1 or a pair?
No idea here....
Thanks

Am I the only one who quite likes who subtle the styling is? Leon's one of the better looking recent hatches to my eyes. Adding a bunch of spoilers and side skirts would have ruined it for me.

Then again, I've always had a bit of a thing about hatches with go-fast styling bits, even the ones fast enough to justify them. Probably seen too many Max Power Corsas.

Surprised at the number of negative comments!
I'd personally have one over a Golf GTI. Same diff as a GTI PP I think, more power, on par styling wise but the Cupra pips it for me with headlight design which still looks fresh today.

That looks good value for under 15k given its relative youth, mileage, kit, power etc. Always thought this Leon was spot on with its looks - sharp but understated. Glad they didn't ruin it and put 4 exhausts on like the Golf R.

On PH we like to pretend we're not badge snobs, but the reality is, if it had a VW logo on the front more people here would like it.

My daily is due for change at the start of March, budget of about £15k, and these are hard to beat, great all rounders. M135i, Mk7 GTi PP are also on the short list. Mk7 R is ruled out, don't want that level of worry over house break ins, and Megane is just not practical enough for a daily for me despite liking them.

For me, the anonymous styling is just what I want in a daily, and the handling is great from the factory, whereas the M135i needs money spent on handling, although it does sound fantastic...choices...

I like the Cupras - in fact, I have an Estate version on order albeit the 300 rather than the previous 280 etc.

However, I did consider going the used route and the other car I was toying with looking at (alongside those on your list) was the Peugeot 308 Gti 270. It's also a bit of an underdog, a little down on power but it is lighter than the Leon and seems to have received good reviews for how it drives. I quite like the looks of both cars but the Peugeot would need to be in a single colour rather that that awful two tone paint colour which it was originally advertised it with.

Example of one available at £15k which is a year newer than the Leon (and therefore under warranty still) - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

I have one an early car with nearly every option box ticked.

but the axle tramp is terrible - remapping was never going to be an option.

Just the one insert, but there are two options (slightly different shape). I found the easiest way to check was to drive over your phone whilst recording a video...

I'm sure any garage would do it for very little - if you had a 4-post lift it would literally be a five minute job. At home, all you need is a jack, axle stand, 21mm socket and a breaker bar. YouTube is your friend for a DIY tutorial.

They've been taking a leaf out of Audis design team. Put your smallest model through the photocopier, press 150% and take the afternoon off.

They've always struggled with the Leons interior. The first got the A3 dash but it was scratchy and the last two models including this is just grey plastic. A shame as Seat did have a design flair. Guess it's been stifled by VW.

People seem to slate Audi for this but most Manufacturers beyond Audi have been doing this for years. It's what they call their "design language" and having a consistent, recognisable brand design across all models. After all, if your A6 model looks decent, why not filter those looks down to the A1s and A3s which are going to sell in higher volumes.

Well, I like mine. I ordered Dynamic Grey, but they stopped that colour during build, so it arrived in white. Can't complain about the interior- as good as many "Premium" cars I've driven recently. Mine's a Sub8 pack Black edition 290, so I get different seats, tweaks to rear and front undercarriage and the brembos.

Sometimes I wonder if the 19s are too big, but they look great. There's definitely a bit of tramp, worse since the front tyres, plus winter roads, have reduced grip. So for £40 I'll be looking into the Forge insert. And for £600 I'll be seriously considering the Revo tweak, as a mate swears by them - and more power is one of the few things I think it needs.

As for "loads of tramp, all of the time ", it's called throttle modulation... stamping it to the floor all the time will upset things in a 280-300bhp fwd.

Filter certain aspects down yes. Make a smaller copy - no.

I was at an Audi dealership a few months back to look at an A6. After good couple of minutes of looking around it I noticed it says A8 on the back...
I mean its ok for someone buying a top tier exec car who wants to have it constantly mistaken for a taxi.
Frankly, I think this whole "design language" is bks. Cars used to have a common vibe (or "language" as you put it) but remained distinct from one another. Think E36/39/38 3/5/7 series beemers. You wouldn't have troubles telling them apart from any angle but they did have a common design to them.

Now it does look like a photocopier it used to design German cars. I mean look at C and E class Mercs. Almost the same. I have trouble telling which one's which.

I can't spot the difference between an XF and XE, unless they're right next to eachother. Even then I still struggle.

the folk commenting that it's dull or boring - surely its good we have the choice?

You want a shouty hot hatch, there's plenty of them.
