I can't be the only one who despises people who look down on other people because they don't drive the same leased car as them? I take st for driving an ST170, guess what, I'm 18, I can't afford to drive the same generic blue leased Golf R as everyone else, and I couldn't stomach driving the same leased Ibiza FR as everyone my age either. I'd say it angers me, but it's just sad to see, I can't help but think it adds to my enthusiasm for cars dying more and more. I'm sure I'll take st on this too before it turns into another lease thread.
It probably isn't that people look down on you just because you have a Ford, and a little Fiesta at that. Having started with a Peugeot but always wanted to be in a BM it's just that when you're in a proper quality ultimate driving machine you just know that other drivers are looking enviously at you.

It's a great feeling when I'm in the BM and I just know that people are looking at me and know how successful I've been, even the ones who deliberately look the other way.

Having a great car really impresses on others the calibre of person they're dealing with, people that are successful in closing deals, have great taste and the financial ability to get behind the wheel of a status symbol. Why do you think Presidents etc are driven around in big limousines like 7-series BMs and not little Fiestas or Aygos etc.

I wouldn't necessarily look down on you in your car but I suppose the fact that I was in a BM might mean you were subconsciously looking up to me and that's understandable but it's only because you recognise the messages that a BM delivers.

Anyway, once you're a bit older and in your 20s like me you'll be able to get into a decent car and won't feel quite so bad.

If you speak to one of your local BM sales executives now, they'll be able to start working with you in a personal relationship manager type of way to get you into a better car as you get a bit older.

Just calling your Fiesta a ST170 doesn't really get away from the fact that it's a Ford, not a BM or Maserati but I suppose might make you feel better. Don't worry about that, I used to refer to my second Peugeot as a 206CC as I had the drop top sports and Peugeot wouldn't make the right impression in conversation.

And girls would be more impressed if you said you drove a BM than an ST.

In a thread full of so much st, it is remarkable that this stood out as much as it does.

If you have no issue with them then why have you started a thread moaning about it?
I mean you claim they look down on you but have not given any examples of this...
The title looks to be about car snobs, not leasing. Plenty of threads on leasing already smile
Because you started a thread about leasing. Muppet.

OP I am surprised you can afford the insurance on an ST170 at 18!
I'm 19 with 2 years NCB and still wouldn't dream of owning one! Can't even get a quote for under £1500 for a number of 2.0 diesel saloons ffs

He said in another thread he's paying something insane like £2900.

The secret to a happy life is to be happy with what you have and not take a blind bit of notice of people who think lesser of you for it. Plenty of very rich people who are happy to tool round in 10 year old Subaru Outbacks. Personally if I saw someone your age in an ST170 I'd think good choice , although non 'car' people will just see 15 year old Focus - but that's ignorance on their behalf. I think most people see any mid range new car as a company vehicle. I have many cars I've collected over the years and could afford something very impressive if I sold them all and bought new but I'd rather have my cool oldies :0)

I drive a 2006 VW Jetta Sport, 2.0 TDI DSG auto, considering it's age it looks in very good condition. I only live an eight minute drive (2.2 miles) from work and my car does all I could ask from it and more. Heated electric mirrors, heated black leather interior etc etc. I will keep it for another 2-3 years, had it 2.5 years already. Where I'm going with this is that for me personally (39 yr old male) I just view my car as something that gets me from A to B.

I work at a very well known German car brand and I could have a brand new car on lease from £195 a month but instead I choose to over pay on my mortgage every month. This is far more important to me than trying to impress people that I don't know

If I was in my early twenties and lived at home no doubt I'd have a car on the scheme but priorities change. To me now a car is a mode of transport and that is all. I've stopped wasting money modifying etc. Unless you own a car it does'nt impress me. My wife's cousin has an R8, he also has a £1.5 million house, that impresses me. Not somebody driving around with a minimum wage job but in a brand new car on lease

To be expected. Such types are just envious & being in a lesser car have to prove something in case they are mistaken as losers.

But not a 218 like you do :0). Proper st list of previously owned too :0). Focus ST 170 would wipe the floor with any of your previous cars on a decent bit of road :0). Being such a knob you probably need it to help the shallow less intelligent woman impressed by a badge and a number plate :0)

Great choice of car. I've just got rid of my 2.0 TDI Sport after 8 years and what a great car it was. Not a single annoying feature on that car. Perfect size, spec levels, easy to drive and just ideal for everyday motoring.

I don't actually think one is enough. I think a BMW 218 full of whoosh parrots may just do it.

If you say so, they tend to do the same to the other cars in front when they get there so I guess they are just jealous...of anything that's in front of them.
