From what i've read the car was developed on the smooth test facilities and works well on the smoother roads of the continent. If you look at the reviews over in Italy they do not get the same comments as here in the UK. As so few of them have been sold here and the issues seem to be local to the UK there has been little appetite for Alfa to engineer a fix.

That might need more than a little engineering refresh wink
For defs!

Plus it would need updated suspension and [massively] uprated brakes but if Lotus can do it they should be well capable of it.

Would be a great halo car if they were able to do this

Looks at the stupid prices of Maclaren's, limited edition 911's etc even the Lotus Evora 430 are 'from' GBP112500

I suspect a halo car based on the Giulia platform, or even resurrecting the 8C platform (or even better, 'borrowing' the 488s wink )

hate it visually!

Done hot laps as a passenger in one. is pretty uncomfortable for those of normal height even traveling to the track, but i suppose all cars of this class are.
I'm 6ft 2 and have no problem getting comfortable

The Spider is available on a lease at the moment for ~£500 a month. Great little Summer car.

Was on a track day with one and was staggered how loud it was - 104db with standard pipes on the static test.

Lovely looking thing, but no faster than my VX220 Turbo and I struggled to see the value next to other equally as quick cars that are available for less money. If you like the looks though, both inside and out there's not much else like it.

So £250 of aftermarket parts can cure something Alfa never got to grips with (sorry for the pun) in all the development they did on the car initially?

Seems like they were cutting corners then (just did it again...)
Yes that's about the sum of it, a few quotes from apparently satisfied customers: http://www.alfaworkshop.co.uk/alfa_romeo_4C_geomet... Used Alfa Workshop for a few years and there's always at least a couple of 4C's in when I go there so think they're doing something right.

I'll definitely get one eventually, love the car in the right colour and already got a version of the 1750 in my 159...great engine (albeit with a rubbish sound).

Sounds like time for a gratuitous picture opportunity of mine

I've driven them a few times now with a view to buying as I love the car, I think the handling is fine, engine is good but just struggle to settle with the auto, its been my main stopper, not so much that its got one but more so there's no tactile feedback from the buttons and they are wheel mounted rather than column mounted, so it no joy to use.

I had one for eight days and loved it. I've always found it hard to reconcile the meh reviews with my experience.

Shame, a missed opportunity by Alfa.

A Lotus is the sensible choice!
Well not really. An Evora is far more costly and an Elise is far less of an every day proposition.

I think the majority of the cars sold here were spec'd with the factory 'race' exhaust, which is essentially no silencers!

I opened the page expecting to see a sale price of around 50k.... Really surprised to see it at under 40k. Especially with that many miles on it.

"Alfa Romeo has been riding on a high recently"

Really? Did I not just read an article about how Alfa Romeo has had their worst year ever in the UK or something? Their sales have hit rock bottom. They might have released several new models in short succession but they dont seem to be selling. Which is a shame because the Giulia is one of the most beautiful cars designed this side of 2000.

Alfa's global sales were up 30-40% in 2017.

But somehow in the UK sales have barely moved upwards compared to last year.

Don't forget that the UK is dominated by German brands plus Jaguar. Alfa is almost a new brand with very few showrooms. My OH doesn't really get the brand and definitely does not see it as a premium brand.

Giulia sales have only really hit in H2, Stelvio haven't really started.
