Seems to work for Porsche...

There's a lot of difference between the S1 Elise and V6 Exige, wouldn't you say? And although Evora is the first different type of car since the nineties,
Don't forget the Europa and 2-11 wink

The Europa was just an Elise with a different engine (essentially a VX220 in drag).

I think with a lot of people they will just see the price tag and not realise that's the market price nowadays. (When did that happen by the way? A 911 for £90k? I thought they were less than that)

Cracking car.

Where is the convertible, get that roof off!!
It's supposed to be here by now

All of these headline variants are serving to increase the perceived value not only of Evoras but the Lotus range as a whole
A base 1.6 isnt too far off the used price of a good S1

Oh look it's Friday there must be another special edition Lotus along soon.............................. yawn.

As good as these are please wake me up when they get round to giving us an actual new car.

And before the Loti faithful berate me the historic financial struggles of this company over the generations don't lie. Lotus desperately need serious funding by serious owners to give it a chance of producing the kind of model cycles that can give it a chance.

If only a huge Chinese conglomerate would buy them. Something like the company that bought Volvo would be perfect......oh

911 starts at just under £78k.

Add at least £10k for essential options.

Astoundingly this £86k Lotus doesn't even have air conditioning....

"...you must add the titanium exhaust costing £5,500 and the Race suspension package that includes adjustable Ohlins dampers - £5,500 more.
Other options include £3,500 Sparco seats, a £300 Alcantara wheel, air-con at £1,500."

What is a realistic price for a GT410 Sport on the road then? NAV also a cost extra but no prices on the website.

Except possibly air con, I don't think any of those are essential. Unlike the Porsche.

And I think the Lotus would destroy the 911 as a driver's car.

Which "essential items" do you think are present on the Lotus but missing from the Porsche?

A Porsche needs certain essential equipment, particularly for those with one eye on resale. That is less of an issue with the Evora.

This or a non-GT 911 is an easy choice IMO.

Nonsense, you "Must" add the titanium exhaust and Ohlin dampers - if you do that you might as well just buy the GT430 Sport which has them as standard.

The air-con is a bit of a piss-take though, 400 has it as standard with a NCO to delete.

Pointless ... why have this when you can have a Ferrari instead.
Picked up a new Evora 400 yesterday. I had half been looking at Ferrari 355s but decided I'd get something faster, more practical, that to my eyes looks fantastic and has a 3 year, unlimited mileage warranty. Doesn't hurt that I like Lotus anyway having owned an Elise for the last 10 years.

Did 250 miles in it today to Autosport International, bought a few bits and pieces so loaded up the boot and rear seats, and it was an incredibly nice place to be. Close the exhaust valve up and its a pretty quiet, relaxing place to be, cruise set to 70mph and going along at 30mpg+, with everything that makes living with a car like this practical - sat-nav, reversing camera and parking sensors, electric mirrors, heated seats - but none of the distracting toys that pile on weight and add nothing to the driving experience.
Genuinely in this environment its a nicer place to be than the V12 Vantage S - may not have the same interior style, but better ride quality, more comfortable seats (I wish the Vantage had the lightweight seats) and less wind noise.

Emptied it out and took it out for fun when I got back and it may not be the outright fastest car for the money, but even running it in and only using up to 4000rpm it makes a great noise, and feels absolutely fantastic to drive.

When you feel comfortable with it I`d thoroughly recommend a Komotec 430 upgrade...gives the car a very worthwhile extra kick and improves economy!
