Sadly they rust too....Having installed a rear subframe on my forester a while back after the last one was reduced to flaky pastry, a few years later and the mot tester said that while the car was completely solid, everything bolted to the car was rotten. It sits outside waiting for me to replace/repair most of the back end.
As for the rear turrets on these, they are an issue as well. Still a decent shed, and a cracking buy if the rot has been dealt with, for now...
They do indeed, my SF had a few advisories for a rusty rear subframe. Alas a lorry on the M1 finished it off before the rust! Quite a smash, got out unharmed. Have an SG (2.0) turbo now, one of the first things I looked at was the rear subframe! As for the rear turrets on these, they are an issue as well. Still a decent shed, and a cracking buy if the rot has been dealt with, for now...

Off to see it on Friday Not sure why seeing as I'm 99% sure insurance won't be possible. It's going to be a night of searching through specialist brokers aaron_2000 said:

I dunno, maybe his username suffix is his year of birth ??
If he's 17/18 and hasn't found insurance and is going to look at that, I'd say he's wasting his timeMaybe I was being naive.

I did ponder the number but quickly decided it’s very unlikely someone below 21 could get insurance on a turbo.

The Goose's one sounds great in the ad, lots of history, run-out model, ex-demo then one owner.

Been insured getting on a year, more going to see it as a 2000 Turbo will be replacing mine at some point anyway. I know 100% I can insure one with 1 year NCB from AF for £3200 Thrid Party, only £300 more than my ST170 which astonished me. Gonna look through some brokers now, not expecting anything though. aaron_2000 said:

It's me that's selling this, do be aware that I work by appointment so you'll need to ring first but Friday's looking ok at the moment. 07800 911 911Our insurance will cover anyone on a test drive....BUT it's me that pays the c£5k pa premium with unprotectable NCB and with a perfect claim free record for the 16 years I've been in business so I'm afraid I may take some convincing to let you drive it on our cover.
However, I am a very capable driver and know the local roads well so I can demonstrate the car's capabilities for you far better than if you drove it yourself anyway. Be warned though, if you've looked at the ad and all the photos then a test drive will make you want to buy it ....so it's probably better that you make 100% sure you have insurance in place before coming, otherwise you'll just end up crying

Spent hours looking around, as expected, 0 chance of insurance I'd be more pissed off if it wasn't for the fact that I expected it, gonna have to wait till I have 1 year ncb in September I think. I'd've bitten your hand off for that one though I'd say good luck selling it, but at that price, it'll be gone by the end of the week. Jeez - I don't miss the days of taking a shafting for twice a car's value to insure it.
And having to pay for a black box to be fitted to the car tooBesides bud, paying 2x the cars value in insurance is unhinged. Keep the ST170, do some track time, improve your skills, maybe spend some on tuition from the money you’ll save and then upgrade when insurance is sensible.
You’ll also not get the best out of the Impreza until you’ve much improved your own talent level anyway!

There’s absolutely no point of a turbo with a black box fitted.

Good shout on the track idea, that's partly why it's sitting on NS2R's Besides bud, paying 2x the cars value in insurance is unhinged. Keep the ST170, do some track time, improve your skills, maybe spend some on tuition from the money you’ll save and then upgrade when insurance is sensible.

Completely agree, Learn to drive something crap quickly and it'll transpose onto the good stuff... My first car was VW Polo with 45bhp and 155/70 tyres....I drove it like an idiot (Not big or clever but most lads have been there) the limits were so low you could get a grasp for car control.Besides bud, paying 2x the cars value in insurance is unhinged. Being older and wiser get on the track, find the limit...ideally on crap tyres at first and build yourself up.... You'll then be able to appreciate a quick car more and not kill yourself or anyone else
