Probably why there’s no warranty on them - they are also not necessarily U.K. spec, they get them intended for all RHD markets.
I thought a few of them looked non-UK spec when I had a glance the other day nerd

Am not sure if it would as they are not the property of VW UK at that point so they haven't lost anything and the car isn't yet theirs to repair, etc.

Also the gate price of the car will be far below the retail price so if a few get damaged in transit then its buttons in the grand scheme of things.
It's not a big deal but having other sales channels always annoys distributors (which is what VW UK are). They also may have to deal with questions about the cars and perhaps having angry customers some way down the line who don't understand why VW is telling them to sod off.

I'm a bit surprised that VAG allows cars out into the wild unsupported. I'm aware that other manufactures crush cars that get damaged - as you say, the manufacturing cost is relatively small.

Old buyer beware Sheep Shanks.

I'm sure there would be a marker on VAG (UK) central recorders that show it as an import from VAG ( German) sold through a 3rd party.

SWS do say there is a manufacturers warranty, in this case I think it's 2 years Pan Euro.

In many ways these car are just like a personal import from Europe, but with some damage. I think all VAG (UK) claims for warranty would go to the parent company too, so only loss is the sale

So any idea why these Tiguans wouldn't have been repaired? One seems to have little more than a nasty scuff.
No idea to be honest perhaps the way liability happens via the transporter company’s has changed, or maybe they were just damaged sitting in a compound as dealer stock,
At one point we used to have loads of new cars painted due to being shat on by birds and wrecking the paint, all on new sat in the compound for 6 months cars, I did suggest covering the ones sat inside a warehouse unit but they didn’t seem to care rolleyes

The engine/ spec/ alloy combos aren't offered over here on some of them.

...seems fairly conclusive!

About £7k off list on that particular car.

That little scratch wouldn't bother me and doubt it would cost £7k to put right or make it look decent.
Is that £7k off list price or what you would actually pay for one once discounted? Remove the warranty and maybe it isn't such a bargain.

VAG don't exactly follow through with warranty repairs anyway. I've had to fight tooth and nail to have anything done, the last one I paid myself because it was £80 and saved a headache/argument with someone in a shiny suit at a dealer.
