You'd class a 4 door vxr off radar? I always thought anything 4 door and performance was on the list? It's added it back to my list now if you feel confident in that to be fair, as i haven't really heard of them being robbed but the same worries about 4 doors put me off an IS-F as well as the VXR8.
Yes I'd class VXR8 as much safer re professional theft. Too few made. No point the scroats learning the tech when they only need to learn Audi, BMW, Merc, Ford (RS). And VXR8 stands out on the road (unlike a black RS3 for instance). Little interest in VXR8 being broken for parts (unlike the German stuff where their are lesser versions of the same models where the 'inits' want the bits to upgrade their cr@p versions).

IS-F another good shout. Not too many IS owners lookin to upgrade with IS-F bits.

This is why the pros don't steal Astons. Even the 4 door Rapide. Too visible. Too hard to blend in.

Just my anecdotal view though. I'm sure someone on here will have the theft data for VXR8, XK, IS-F, Aston etc....

That is quite a well thought out view though to be honest, i had a similar view but with how rife it's becoming it was putting me off spending a chunk of money i'll never get again on special to me.

To Gavia again, hope you're only visits are from friends or your new security stops them in their tracks and turns them to less protected neighbors for however better on the whole that is.

Thanks. The only way they’ll get the car is by violence / threats to me as it’ll be unstealable with the measures now in place. The question is whether they want to escalate it that far, as it becomes a much more serious and investigated crime when that happens.

Would a tracker not save a lot of hassle? I know a lot of people wouldn’t want their car back after it was stolen but they usually park them up for a few days to see if they get picked up.
A good security tip is to leave a few large dog bowls outside. Let them think you have a large dog in the house.

That’s one of about 10 levels in place across car / house / driveway.

Dog stuff is easy to check, just a tap on a window, ring the doorbell. All dogs will bark if there is one.

You can get electronic dog barking gadgets, that work on radar/microwave, so go off if someone gets close.

With all you have, you now need to be aware when going to/from the car.

True, although that would very much go against the current MO of the scum. They like working in the early hours and I’m rarely outside at that time, other things make it tricky to sneak up too.

I've gone the other way on this... Keys are on the stairs a fair distance from the front door.

If they do break in, they can see the keys and sod off with what is just metal end of the day. I don't want some chump walking about my house scaring my family.

House is alarmed and gravel driveway, so there is an element of protection there already as it makes so much bloody noise (aka ' I heard you coming home last night, that wasn't 11pm).

The other thing is a lot of people here are discussing door security, but I'd check your windows. A lot of the older windows you can pull apart so quickly with no noise.

I like the theory, but I don't think burglars tend to trip over the doormat pissed, shouting "SSSSSHHHH!", giggling and farting, then going for a long and loud piss with the bog door wide open.

Gravel drive at night is like ringing alarms bells... You can hear it far away and sounds so damn loud!

Btw... You sure you not got a camera in my house, awful lot of detail there re my returning home from a quick drink habits.

Similar thing happened to one of my customers. Husband is a manager at Bentley and was given a new top of the range Audi Estate, the model was not even on sale here for a few weeks. They live in a quite isolated place, but within a village. He was away and his wife had fallen asleep on the sofa watching tv. She heard a noise in the kitchen and thought it was the dog. She got up went to bed and found the dog fast asleep on the bed. She didn't put two and two together. Following morning she found the car was gone. Frighteningly she was less than 10m from the kitchen.
The Police believe it was stolen to order and her husband had been followed from where he works in Crewe.
The house is now like Fort Knox with cameras everywhere.

A £12.99 Sport Direct hoody trumps a £5k CCTV installation.

Especially good value when that has been nicked too. these scrotes need a good hiding from the Police not a hug from the justice system.

In many ways I feel for the police trying to do their job, the rights are all on the side of the criminal.

It may well do, but if that’s just part of the overall security package, then the CCTV is a good way to check on things live or recorded if needed.

DELETED: Comment made by a member who's account has been deleted.
That was the idea behind 'Police Scotland', the new national force, and it's been a big success. It's being treated as a test case.

Avon and Somerset Police have started dropping the 'Avon and Somerset' bit from new equipment as they're looking at a merger with Glos and Wilts (Avon not existing anymore also helps I guess...). There are over 40 police forces in the UK, policing a relatively small geographical area.

Exactly one month and there’s not been any news at all about the car. This is despite all the forms being filled in to track the car as claimed possible by a few posters on here. The new car arrived two weeks ago and all additional security in place in both car and house.

The car theft epidemic in the area seems to have calmed down, although that’s probably because all the nice cars have gone

Just a waiting game now to see what happens.
