Between the Evoque and RRS. If you see the three together, there is a clear size difference between the three.
Are you sure?

I thought it was priced to be between a RRS and a FFRR.
Starts at about £45k in poverty spec. I think the only way to go in JLR land is entry level. Get the car/kudos without going mad. A disco at £43k isn't a bad proposition, at £80k though and it's a different kettle of fish. Same applies here. I'd go black, stick some bigger aftermarket wheels on and be riding round in my £80k looking car with £30k in my pocket.

There are quite a few knocking around where we are. Strange thing is quite a few seem to be base models with horrible wheels - something to do with lease deals maybe. When you see it looking like this, it doesn't look very special!

Do not like. It hasn't quite reached "ugly", but that is not a nice looking car IMO.

And there we have it, todays car buyer in all his glory, get the neighbours believing you have spent 80k when you have in fact leased a budget Velar .... all about keeping up or ahed or the Jonesies ... (sorry to any Jonesies out there)

Think that they are very colour sensitive, which can make them a bit marmite amongst folks, I also think that the rear overhang is too much for an "off roader". Current FF and sport are too big for me whereas this may be a bit better and which is why I am still running my last LR purchase 25yrs on.
As an aside I have run LR products as 1st or 2nd vehicle for the last 50yrs and can't remember even a blown fuse (no doubt put a curse on it now)

I was talking to a dealer before Christmas, he was saying they were having problems with the electrics (door handles) and they were holding them back. Would think that would have been sorted by now though.

He did say they had loads of deposits.
I was watching the same advert with my wife, who that very day was bemoaning the fact she's driving my Peugeot 107 when all of her friends have "nice cars like MINI's and BMW's", and after the dog stopped barking at the dogs on the TV she commented "Oh wow look at those handles".

She did not like my response to her when I said "Yeah, more stuff to go wrong with it. Still when it's pissing with rain and you can't open the car you can always look at it from the outside".

Haven't seen one on the Hagley Road in Birmingham yet. Friend of mine works at JLR and he hasn't mentioned seeing them either.

Lease prices are very poor on the Velar (9+47 £400) - so doubt many are being leased.

I read last year that the Velar attracted record orders/deposits.

That isn't a very nice response.

You should have said of course you can have a nicer car honey, why don't you get a second job and pay for it hehe

"Poverty spec" on a 45 grand car ?

What doesnt it have other than stuff to make it look more expensive, I expect it has everything most could reasonably need ?

Biggest issue for many is the price. I know of one that the f pace got rejected and they bought a velar. The price of it was eye watering on list though (i think they got a good discount though and use of a jag xj for a few months at no cost)

Well lack of leather for one, which apparently is a dire state of affairs and akin to having to live in poverty .... I'm surprised a standard spec Velar hasn't appeared in the 'Council' thread yet .... !!

I have no idea what rarified air some PH'ers breathe but we don't have it here in Reading !!

Really? A Velar base spec is without Leather. I imagine it would be an essential upgrade in that case, as will be unattractive come resale time.

I see 3/4 every day, always in silver or a light grey colour

The front looks stupid, such a big space between the grills it looks like a fish.

I see plenty round my way. However, we live not far from Gaydon, so they could be employee vehicles.

Without giving any specifics, Velar has outsold the Discovery, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport in the last 3 months.

Not relevant when handing back your subsidised PCP ...... no one is buying these .... they are all rented apart from the odd 'monied' purchaser ....

Does anyone just buy the car that they want these days, or is it always a game of guessing what the next buyer wants?

I would say it is relevant, these buyers are buying an image and a lifestyle product rather than a workhorse. And your passenger opeining the door into a cloth seat isn't part of the image they had in mind I would suspect.

Same for those buyers who will get a used one later.

Very surprised, I imagined 'extended leather' covering dashboard and so on, would be an option rather than basic leather.

Doubt it bothers most Hyphen, see above, thats todays mentality .... why do you think there are so many Golf R's out there, because they gave them away .... people could drive them being billy big potatoes for £250 a month and are now all moaning they can't replace them and that might look bad to the neighbours ....

I've seen one. Just one. I think it''s the same person as has the only Evoque convertible skip that lives locally.

Can't say I'm either offended or even interested in it as it just looks a bit 'samey'

Would wager that the F-Pace outsells any other of that sector SUV here in Brighton. They're everywhere.
