I think Disco Sport probably the best.

The trouble with the RRS and full-fat Disco is that they are so heavy. I was reminded of this riding as a passenger in a friend's RRS - the way it went into corners, you can just feel the weight (it wasn't the way she was driving) and it immediately brought to mind the two Discovery 3's I owned. The Disco Sport and Evoque are much, much more nimble and IMHO far nice both on and off road.

There was a graph a month or so ago showing that the Velar was making up c50% of LR sales.

I'll try and find it.

100s round here.

It wasn't on sale in Q1 for FY2018 so not representative.

I'm not sure about the facelifted RRS either, actually. I've always thought the current model looked fantastic, but I saw a white facelifted one yesterday and I'm unconvinced that it's a step forward. The rear lamps are a bit iffy, in particular.

I think velar and disco sport are similar weight and could be lighter if aluminium content was increased, but both are based around older underpinnings

I believe the Velar is based on the new-ish Jag aluminium platform, so should be pretty good. The Discovery Sport, however, is in essence an old Ford Mondeo. hehewink

Why do I have the feeling that the Discovery would be much higher if it didn't have such an ugly rear!

The only problem I have with the Discovery Sport is the name. It doesn't feel like either. I'm not saying it should have been called a Freelander but does more suit IMO.

Do you think LR could squeeze out another Range Rover version? A road biased Range Road Rover or a 6 wheeler Range Rover pick-up ??

So it looks like Velar is selling quite well considering it is not replacing an existing model and is pretty pricey.

Velar just looks utterly awful from every angle. Ditto Discovery, though that dark green/black combo at Bramley has a certain something, the tailgate mod might make it palatable. Evoque horrid, massively overweight and now very long in the tooth. XE and XF dull and dreary. What are JLR doing?!

TBH they should just have kept the Disco 4 in production to carry on selling to farmers, humanitarians etc, even if it meant moving production to Slovakia or India like they're doing with the new Disco (at which point the last conceivable reason for buying one of the latter evaporates).

I think it's pretty much similar to the Jaguar F-Pace.

Mrs Digga had a Land Rover Experience day free from her latest purchase, so out of interest - since over the years we've done them in just about everything else - we'll try a Velar...

There're very colour and spec sensitive but the birds seem to like them!
