I have number 1 hand experience of ford being jokers, they cant even make the cars they have work let alone coming up with new ones. Its all publicity and PR to scam morons then it blows up and whoever bought the car is left holding their longfellow in their hands.
You must be so stupid.

NO MANUFACTURER WILL HONOUR AAWARRANTY ON A MODIFIED ENGINE THAT GOES POP. THIS IS NOT UNIQUE TO FORD.

How hard is it to understand?
Well a moron was certainly scammed....just not by Ford in this case.

Does the new GT500 have the same base engine that's going in the new TVR does anyone know?

Apologies, didn't get down that far. wink
I don't think they've put the Ford GT round it though?
Car & Driver have just recorded their fastest ever lap time in a GT at Virginia International Speedway - quicker than a 918

Indeed but, given the GT is a thinly disguised race car and only 1000 people can buy it, it also puts the GM times in context, although they do stress it might go even faster.
"In the end, the GT set a time of exactly 2:43. That makes it both faster than the Mercedes-AMG GT R (2:43:4) and the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE (2:45:7) when C/D tested them". It's not a huge margin between that and the pukka road cars but hey, a win's a win.

The C7 Z06 did a 2:44 making it great value. Hopefully, Ford can extend the traditional Ford value for money to this car.

And my 282bhp furniture-hauler is a similar story, from normal road speeds at low RPM, 6 seconds of full throttle will land me in license loss territory unless I'm going up my local very steep hill... and that's a near-2-ton car. Imagine how much more fun the Ford could be if it was made as light as possible, kept naturally-aspirated, and had a small-block V8 displacing no more than about 4 litres? Get the gearing low enough and you'll still be able to have all the smoky shenanigans and be able to use full throttle rather more... and, let's face it, how many drivers are capable of handling a 700bhp RWD car safely? Frankly, I wouldn't trust the majority of Mustang owners (if YouTube is anything to go by) with my 540i, never mind something with 2.5x the power...
Don’t tar everyone with the same abilities that you possess. Thankfully the car buying world still has free choice and manufacturers don’t listen to miserable old gits like you. How on earth does everyone cope who rides a litre motorcycle, or various 500 hp/ton vehicles, they must be Godlike?

No.

The engine in the TVR is a slightly reworked Coyote, as found in the std GT (5.0 capacity).

The GT500 motor has been named Predator, and is based off the Voodoo engine used in the GT350 and GT350R. Albeit now supercharged (capacity 5.2L).
Thanks for that thumbup

If my math is right the 700hp Mussie is around 390/tonne... my TVR (non standard but still N/A) is a tad under 340/tonne. My point is, those kinds of power to weight are awesome fun to drive, but are not for idiots.... long may we still have access to such machinery, the world would be an emptier place without them.....

That's it guys, my Mustang is up for sale, there's no way I'm keeping it if Ford won't honour my warranty.

Thanks for the heads-up Jeff. cool
No problem if you've enjoyed it and can get shot before it goes pop then you've done well out of it. The more people stand up to ford the more them jokers wont be able to get away with doing this to people.

It’s quite straight forward to get 800hp from a supercharged LS V8 engine or 1000hp with turbos. I’ve done it with mine.

You can get a lot of the power down but of course you are traction limited. Over 100mph, it will accelerate like a Golf R will in second gear from 30mph which is funny when you get somebody glued to your rear bumper.

Only people saying it’s pointless are the ones that don’t have it. Enjoy the fact that they’ve made it, soon all our cars will be electric.

What the heck IS the point of violent acceleration over 100mph? I used to be able to get up to 115mph pretty regularly in cars that were pretty much maxxed out at that, but now I've got a 155mph+ car, trying to find ANYWHERE to do more than 70 without getting nicked is harder than ever.

It's not that I'm becoming a boring old fart - it's simply that it's becoming harder to find anywhere to fully extend a 282bhp V8, never mind one with over double that amount of power...

But this thing is built for the American market and many will be shod with drag radials and taken to the strip.

No you don’t need more power but it’s nice to know you have it.

Another pub fact. - I can go from 0 - 125mph in only one gear (3rd). Very useful when you are feeling lazy. smile

A DB7 V12 GT would do 0-130 in 4th gear on 435bhp and 410 ft/lb... what's this going to be like with 700+ bhp and probably north of 750 ft/lb? You're going to want to start in 6th gear to manage the traction!

If you want a car for the drag strip, just buy a tube-frame special with four-figure horsepower and all the safety gear required at this level, not a road car that's been compromised for both road and strip.

.

Why? People like racing production based vehicles. Some people will use it as a starting point and then make it faster.
