^^^^^This.

If you keep rear ending people then you're driving:
Too fast for the road conditions
Too close to the vehicle in front
Not paying attention.

Out of curiosity, any accidents since last July?

Yes, this one.

I have already signed up for one as the majority of my accidents have been situations like this, think I have just fell into bad habits due to being impatient.
Well done! Good to hear someone taking responsibility and improving themselves. I wish more people did the Advanced Course and tackled any specific areas they felt they could improve upon.

Ive had a few crashes where I have rear-ended people, one of them was in the snow and I thought I'd left enough room but my Celica just wouldn't stop in time, so its a feature I want on my next car. Was hoping to hear a few jap suggestions but I do like the V40.

Thanks Brapp I'll take a look at the VWs
Jap suggestions:

Honda did the 'ADAS / Safety Pack' thing on some of their cars - I know the CR-V and Accord could be optioned with them.

Lexus had their 'ACC/PCS' systems on their range.

One of the most difficult things I find is admitting you are wrong/have a problem. Cheers mate

I love my Celica, its a bit long in the tooth but just failed its MOT on the handbrake level and a brake light, so there's life in the old dog yet. I'm planning on improving my issues I have and after a year or two of safe driving I plan to stick to Jap cars if I can, so the Lexus (fancy Toyotas) and Honda's are right up there :-)

Volvo S/V60 had it from launch. It did save my wife from almost rear ending the car in front when they set off then stopped at an empty roundabout.

Our current Kuga also has it, but i've never managed to trigger it. Makes me wonder if it's actually working but not sure how to test it.

It is, but those who do often end up improving by far more - so good luck... and well done...

The Mazda 6 has smart city braking but this is slow speeds only approximately 4 - 30 km/h
http://www.mazda.com/en/innovation/technology/safe...

There's loads of caveats on it, which is why when the camshaft disintegrated (faulty batch of engines) and we lost the turbo, brake servo and power, I wasn't impressed when our local dealer told us to drive it to them even though the brakes where non existent, because "you can't crash you've got auto braking.." . My wife was 40 miles away, so we got it recovered.

The only time it's kicked in was it jammed the brakes on once when I pulled into a parking space. It thought I was going to hit the hedge at 5mph.
