I was thinking about my latest aquisition, a Skoda Superb 3.6 4x4 DSG estate, and consequently the subject of rare versions of otherwise common cars.

Looking at howmanyleft seems to indicate a total of around 160 V6 4x4 Skodas, at any given time there's usually about 2 for sale nationally. Other candidates include the Volvo S80 4.4 V8 (~100) and the Passat R36 (~140).

The common theme seems to be cars with big petrol engines but no aspirational badge on the front (unfortunately the exact type of car I like). What others can people come up with?
Legacy R SpecB - Manual

Young lad at work has one. Sounds nice. Will get a pic tomorrow.
I used to own an XC90 with the V8 in it.

8th Gen Accord S type diesels? Common as muck when you have a 2.4 vtec estate - only a few sold (super reliable in the 10yrs we have had it).
Show off, when I was looking for mine (I was looking for an ex tourer when the type s came up) I didn't see a single 2.4 come up for sale.

How are you finding the Superb?
Quite easily, it's not camouflaged
Really? You just open the front/garage door and there it is? Amazing!!

Funnily enough, I've browsed the usual suspects, (PH, Autotrader, eBay), for the 4.4 V8 XC90's, and never seen one for sale.
Here's one

The 3 litre 200bhp V6 Mk3 Mondeo ( not the ST220 )

They didn't sell many ( far outnumbered by the ST220 )

I love a rare model biggrin

Some of my previous ones...

Prefacelift Vectra GSI estate, only 317 built
Audi S2 Avant (owned 2), only 312 built
Audi RS4 B5, approx 500 built
Cavalier Turbo, 1004 built
BMW 330d M Sport Touring, manual. Rare enough with a manual box, but mine was Japan red, which there are only a handful

Is the RHD Corvette actually produced or is it a conversion ? Are we talking modern 'Vette's or classic ones ?

The last one I remember was;

This is a very weird one, mk3 Cavalier 2L 8valve 4x4 in base spec. My dad remembers it coming into the vauxhall dealer he worked at back in the day. Registered to the local council and the body shop were instructed to debadge it as it had 4x4 badges on it. Could have been the only one made by Vauxhall or one of a handful made on special order for the police

My Vauxhall knowledge isn't very good but weren't all of the mk3 Cavalier Turbos 4x4? Akin to the Calibra of the time?

My first ever ride in a Traffic Police car as a new probationer was in a Cavalier 4x4 Turbo. Gosh it felt fast especially round the slip road from the A27 to the A23!!!

Few years back my friends dad used to select some pretty unique cars as his company car. I think he was able to change his CC every 30,000 miles, which meant he would have 2/3 new cars a year. He would always pick cars he would never buy with his own money. Including a ........
