My current Jag XFR is rare I suppose.
It's a Stratstone Le Mans special edition. Only 50 were made, 25 black & 25 white.
They came with a few alterations but the best is the Quicksilver exhaust fitted as standard. The sound is glorious. As is the performance.

I love an XFR (as you can see from my profile pic!)

What were the differences, other than the exhaust?

A friend bought a 1.8T B7. Nice car but quite underwhelming, and very heavy on the juice.
Yeah, nowt to get excited about but in quattro is a rare spec and meant I could stick a Revo map on it with it turning into a load of scrabble - perfect for the school run

The 3 litre 200bhp V6 Mk3 Mondeo ( not the ST220 )

They didn't sell many ( far outnumbered by the ST220 )
That's because they were 2.5 litre and I think they sold about the same as the ST220 as you could have it in 3 different models, Zetec S, Ghia and Ghia X.

3 Litre V6 was ST220 only.

Edited by TIGA84 on Thursday 18th January 13:42
Factually incorrect - they did a 3 litre NON ST220 Mondeo - but, as you say, they also did a 2.5 litre V6 in different trims.

The 3 litre V6 versions that weren't ST220s were about 200bhp ( rather than the 217bhp of the ST220 )

If you look at my original post further up I've posted an example for you

Anyway, here's another in Ghia X trim to show you it wasn't a one-off

I've just bought a 'vectra special vxr v6'.

It looks like a plain white vectra estate, but has the running gear, brakes and suspension from the vxr model.

Not sure on the exact figures but it seems a rare version of a common car to me.

Ex police traffic car.

I'd like to nominate my current car - A Mondeo Estate, but the 2.0T 204ps version - they only made it in a short window before the 240ps version was released. When I was looking through the classifieds, only 2 were for sale.

Lovely car but not without its flaws, which warms me to it.
I was going to nominate mine... The Mondeo Estate 2.5T... but it's positively common in comparison to the 2.0T 204PS version!
Ha! It is a rare car, I wanted to try the 2.5T but couldn't find an estate version that met my criteria.

It was a 78bhp 1.8.

Think you're remembering it through rose tinted specs.
Yeah but the 1.9 GTi was only 128.

78 for a little three door tin box was pretty good back in the day!

Renault produced a Laguna (mk3) hatch and estate with the 3.5 Nissan V6 as found in the coupé.
It was present in France only on one pricelist, that means 3 months max, and was available in Dynamique or Initiale.

I've only ever seen one in the classifieds, in Switzerland, an estate in the lower trim Dynamique.

What kind of business sense that was supposed to make I don't know.
But as a rare version of a common car, it is unbeatable.

Now I know that PH is known for people being contrary for the sake of it, but come on, there is nothing at all wrong with that car. I know looks are subjective but really?

Twingo Cup only 135 left! There are over 300 Clio Trophys so shows how rare the Twingo is.

Well bugger me.

I used to sell the fking things as well. That must have been a run out model as I left Ford before they facelifted the Mondeo but after the ST220.

Interesting.

Same here, all the ones that appeared seemed to be down south or way up in Scotland, with 150k miles and rarely with the full spec, despite what the adverts said. Amazing how many have cloth seats and the monochrome LCD instead of the full colour "big" screen.

To continue the above thread, there was also the Mk 2 ST200. 2.5 V6 with extrusion honed inlet manifolds, different cams, high flow primary catalysts, new map etc. Usually in imperial blue. There are quite a few 3.0 V6 non-STs around, they regularly pop up in the Auto Trader search. There is a 3.0 Tit X (201ps) estate near here up for sale, 25k miles,£4750. MOT history backs up the low miles, but 10+ years old so, eh, yeah.

Weirdly enough, I worked with a guy who had one whilst also studying at college with another guy who owned one! They weren't that fast. Very linear power delivery which probably didn't help.

It's certainly not the ugliest car but the styling is a bit fussy especially round the bonnet/a-pillar/front swage line area. I've never really liked that whole straight line over the front of the bonnet design language either, I much preferred it when the bonnet and kidney grills were attached. The colour isn't great for what looks like an SE model - it'd be OK with shadowline style trim but doesn't suit chrome. Plus the wheels don't really suit it either. I'm no fan of oversize wheels but I do like them to be a bit more in proportion and less flat-faced. I imagine there are far better looking examples out there.

Here's an even rarer Golf 4x4

https://www.ebay.de/itm/VW-Golf-2-Country-Cabrio-B...

The text reads:

The Biagini Passo is a crossover convertible of the Italian carmaker ACM, which was produced only about 65 times between 1990 and 1993.
Technically speaking, it is almost completely a Volkswagen, as ACM has simply connected the slightly modified body of the VW Golf I Convertible via a self-made subframe with the technology of the Golf II Country. However, ACM has changed the front and rear significantly. The front fenders and bonnet are a Biagini own production and no longer available, since the company ACM was closed at the end of production for financial reasons.

ACM has been used in part by other manufacturers, the headlights come with turn signals from the Fiat Panda the years 1980 to 1985, the rear lights are from the Opel Kadett D sedan of the year 1983 and the side indicators are from the Fiat Ritmo, also built in 1983. In the rear is no longer the small luggage hatch, but a large flap that opens down. The rear window in the hood can be folded up separately.

The hood frame is a modified Golf I Convertible component with the original gaskets. The rear window is because of the quite practical change of the tailgate no longer made in glass, but it is a PVC folding disc sewn. The dashboard also comes from the Golf 1 but has been fitted with a handle bar that extends to the passenger side.

The vehicles were only sold in very small numbers via isolated VW dealers in Germany.
