I dont think anyone in that situation can be relied on, under duress to pilot 2.5 tonnes of 600 bhp, 4wd motor car with massive accuracy, so I suspect that some leeway would be given, unless it looked like you were actively trying to squash them, after all the lady driving was minding her own and didnt ask to be involved in that situation and I am guessing she probably isnt trained in evasive driving techniques, the scrotes know it is a possible that they may get injured by the car.

I know people with nothing do desperate things to get money, but I think this goes well beyond, the stakes have been raised and they would have quite cheerfully injured or killed the driver so my advice is lock your doors, especially in town/city centres and worry about yourself and your safety not whoever is attacking you, worry about the outcome later.

I don't think that was a car jacking. My guess would be they knew the victim or they wanted something inside the car i.e jewellery etc.
They didn’t know the driver. I know of it (friend of friend knows the family), the kids that were in the car have found it very traumatic.

Cant fully see in the video but Id like to think id step on it and get the fk out of there. It looked clearish on the left? I would have certainly reversed and tried to go left or keep going back and forth.

looks scarey though!

Why feel the need to expose your wife and kids by putting them in such a hideous and ostentatious car in a city that is not generally that wealthy?

The Bentayga is all that is wrong in society and then put on four wheels frown - and I am not saying that as a petrolhead or some sort of socialist..
What an idiotic statement.

Happened to me in Coventry (another sthole of a city) in my tatty old Clio. Not by a Romanian, or a Hungarian, but a white British scumbag. It was at a car park with the engine off, so not possible to just floor it. He tried bashing my door window with a hammer. Somehow I kept my cool (still don't know how) and just got the fire extinguisher from under the seat and told him that if he gets in the car I'd smash his face in with the extinguisher. Got my phone out, dialled 999 and just showed it to him. He then legged it and got into his rusty Escort van and drove off. I tried chasing him to get the VRN, but he ran the red lights and escaped.

Worst thing was that my girlfriend at the time was with me in the car. She was proper terrified.

The issue I have is that in case I have an accident and am unconscious - eg in a lake/river, car on fire etc - people couldn’t get me out of the car quickly, which would also kinda suck ....

Edit: as I do not live in the UK anymore, I suspect the risk of the above is higher than the one of being car jacked. - well I hope so anyway ...

I believe this was covered in another thread, most auto-locking doors will automatically unlock when an impact is detected.
That is good to know - I have to check which car has an auto locking feature and enable that

Anyone pointing out that being a scumbag is not restricted to a specific race is a snowflake?

Sorry sunshine, but you're the snowflake in this thread.

Sunshine is a racist term and should be unacceptable in 2018.

Are there well known cases of someone running over a car jacker on the spur of the moment and being prosecuted for it?

Or is everyone just working on assumption that this is what would happen?
I'm sure there was a thread on here a good few years back of an attempted car jacking of an RS4 or 6 and the chap (a Pher) actually pinned the guy between two cars, might have even paralysed him.
I'll have a search

Nobody is a fking "snowflake". You're not an American teenager, and this isn't Twitter - talk like adults.

PH has, as long as I've known it, been full of people who like to jump to conclusions about ethnicity and cast wide-ranging aspersions.
Ultimately, there are horrible people from every walk of life - this isn't confined to an area, race, nationality or gender. The country isn't "going to the dogs" - we've always had horrible people, and most indicators suggest that it's probably safer now (murder, violent crime) than the 80s or 90s.

I suspect this would be looked on in much the same way as the well publicised incident in New York - involving a Range Rover and a bike gang. Admittedly, not this country, but there were no charges brought against the driver of the RR.

The moped rider would have been little or no obstacle if the Bentley driver had taken to the open ground to her left..

Unless you're trying to make a bad joke and failing miserably at it.

Welcome to my fking point.

I'm not the one calling people snowflakes here, I'm taking the piss out of someone who is.

Also sounds like you have no idea how American teenagers talk either... or are you just as upset that I've called him out on his bullst?

I am neither American nor possessing a twitter account.

It isn't though is it? If you were to walk around with your wife and you had your expensive watch on display and she her expensive jewelry while talking on your new iPhone, you might be making yourself more likely to get mugged. It's certainly a basic rule of traveling that you don;t want to make yourself look like a rich tourist.

It doesn't excuse people robbing others, but you have to protect yourself with a little common sense. Someone with a 200 grand ostentatious car is quite likely to draw more unwanted attention than the person behind them in the queue in a Hyundai.

I love the idea that all the middle class lycra mums on the school run, will after 2 hoodies scratch their Bentayga, drive over to a rough boozer in the East End and recruit a couple of gangsters to sort their problems out. Most people on this earth would either have no clue, and certainly have no inclination to retaliate - it's not about whether you can afford it or not.

Surely there is training for this sort of situation, should it go with the territory with such wealth (appreciate in an ideal world no one should have to).

But in this case, the BMW moved out of the way, cars in the outside lane moved too but the Bentley driver just moved into the gap the BMW left rather than make an effort to escape.

Why not try and discuss the point (as I have), rather than just attacking the poster?
