Shell V-Power unleaded price premium over standard

How does the clubcard points compare to Shell points? I always seem to get offers via the Shell drivers club app.
You get a point for £2 at Tesco I think, which is pretty meagre.Shell is 2 points per litre on VPower, so effectively 1p/litre discount. Better, but doesn't offset the huge price difference.

Luck of the draw. I have two Tescos roughly equidistant from me. One is pretty much as you describe, pumps are brand new and very clean but the staff are mostly knocking on OAP status. They're all friendly enough, in fact it's more often the younger ones who don't engage in a little friendlty back-and-forth and I'm pretty sure most of these older workers could have retired years ago but prefer to keep working part time as it keeps them sociable.
The other staffed by people in their 40s and a couple of attractive young ladies, again, friendly and always chat with regulars. However their pumps are showing their age a bit but I imagine they're about to be updated to bring them in line with the ones in the other branch.
Tesco have recently changed their loyalty cards from a bar code to a QR code and the pay at the pump machines are being replaced with newer more sophisticated ones which are able to read the new cards. I imagine it's a matter of time before all branches have them, so if the pumps near you are looking run-down it's probably because they're due to be changed and they don't want to spend any more money on them.
Indeed. My local Shell, despite having the shop redone recently has terrible pumps, with the old style mechanical displays. Tesco has the new QR pumps so they're nice and shiny. The other staffed by people in their 40s and a couple of attractive young ladies, again, friendly and always chat with regulars. Down here in Devon, just off the A30
£1.279 unleaded
£1.409 V-Power
Both prices have risen sharply since they converted the shop to a Waitrose - someone’s gotta pay for all the fancy signage and posh tat shelves.
Worst thing is the queues are always longer now since all the bloody tourists seem to be doing their weekly shop there

Shell V-Power is NOT just about an increase in RON.
It also contains a higher level of additives which provide enhanced cleanup and maintain cleanliness functions as well as additives that will improve fuel atomisation and hence burn efficiency which will improve fuel consumption.
Hi do you have any peer reviewed studies proving that and not just marketing wibble? ThanksIt also contains a higher level of additives which provide enhanced cleanup and maintain cleanliness functions as well as additives that will improve fuel atomisation and hence burn efficiency which will improve fuel consumption.
Can you I tell you exactly what fuels and what additives give the best results - Unfortunately not but if if there were no performance benefits between fuels then why would these tests exist ?

I have managed these industry standard engine tests that are used to asses fuel performance and have seen the benefit of additive content within fuels.

To determine if there is a difference. We wouldn't know either way unless controlled scientific tests are done. 121.9 for Super Unleaded at the local Sainsbury's
That's cheap. You won't get "normal" unleaded around here for that.I think Sainsbury's used to be supplied by BP but of I guess that doesn't mean it's the same as you'd find in a BP pump.
That's literally ten quid difference per tank over V-Power, be interested to see what difference if any there is over MPG.

132.9 for V Power at my garage of choice yesterday, Shell Select with a Waitrose attached. Worked out to be 11p more than their standard unleaded.
2 weeks later and it’s up to 137.9 with regular at 126.9 so the 11p gap is maintained. I’ll switch to Momentum from the next tank onwards to see how it compares Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
