122.9 for Sainsbury's Super v 141.9 for V-Power.

MPG so far is the same.
I'm not sure what that proves?

  • Sainsburys Super unleaded is a high octane standard fuel
  • V-Power is a high octane premium fuel
  • The V-Power price is getting you their additives designed to keep your engine clean, improve longevity, etc.
"any" difference there would be would happen over considerable time not instantly or over a month or two.

Not BTW saying the V Power is worth the extra 19p per litre, just that getting the same MPG isnt really the differentiator.

Many people do get improved mpg though and it happens as soon as you fill up from empty or close to it , doesnt take weeks at all

I didnt say the improvement would be in MPG and would happen over time. I was referring to keeping your engine cleaner, improving longevity, etc.

And again, getting the same MPG from Sainsburys supermarket super unleaded is not a reason for not using V-Power.

I didn't say it proves anything, simply that it's a big difference and in my case no noticeable difference in fuel economy so far as often that's what people see which can recoup the extra cost on a tank.

I'm very fortunate that the supermarket in question has always been stupidly cheap, but I've consistently used Shell and 20ppl is one hell of a difference.

I'll likely still run the odd tank of V-Power through it.

V-Power was £1.43 last week in Norwich, so I decided to try Sainsburys Super again. With two thirds of the tank gone the EML light has come on, as it does every time I use Sainsburys fuel.

When I scan it is says 'mis-fuelled or fuell additive detected'.

Tesco 99 for me from now on until Shell sort out their pricing.

Merc E350 with the M276 engine btw.

I wish our Sainsbury's was a similar price smile

I've been using Sainsbury's Super unleaded dosed with Millers Petrol EcoMax for the last couple of years as a V-Power substitute and I've been very pleased with the results (and cost savings) versus V-Power which I always used to use.

On our last trip to Europe I had problems with two brands of 100+ RON fuel (including Shell V-Power Racing) causing misfires and a CEL, which isn't much fun 1500 miles from home. Regapping the spark plugs made no difference. Back on the Sainbury's/Millers combo and the problem hasn't come back in the last 2k miles.

Whenever I tried Sainsbury's Super on its own in the past the engine was never as happy as it was on Shell, but with the Millers added I can't tell the difference versus V-Power.

Hydrocarbons at the last MOT were 1ppm on the fast idle test. The engine ECU long term fuel trim is within 0.25%. Spark plugs are super clean as is the exhaust side of the turbo and the catalytic converter. Given all that, I don't see any need to go back to using V-Power. any time soon.

Worst thing is the queues are always longer now since all the bloody tourists seem to be doing their weekly shop there mad
I mostly use V-power but the worst thing I find about buying Shell fuel is the cashier asking me how my day has been and what I'm going to do for the rest of it. furious

Must be in the 'training' but I wish they'd just mind their own ferkin' business and STFU...

I filled up with Tesco 99 last night, £127.9, I passed my local shell on the way there - V-power - £148.9.

I lease my cars so engine wear benefits dont really concern me, I dont really care for mpg either, though I notice the car drives nicer, and definitely more eager on boost as well as a sharper throttle response.

Incidently, Tesco 99 was 2p per litre cheaper than shell 95 ron...

I’m on a tank a week currently. Filled up with Momentum for the first time yesterday. At 124.9 it’s 14p a litre cheaper than V Power. Will try a few tanks to see if my economy drops.

Similar to man racer here. Cost me £80 to fill up my Boxster last week - first time I’ve ever paid that much. 143.9p at local Shell garage who are now charging 11p per litre more for VPower, so no longer as per my original post. The next day my leased R also needed filling up so it was Tesco momentum at 130.9. The Boxster doesn’t do many mile and is a ‘keeper’ so I’m inclined to keep using VPower, but my R is a lesser and goes through a tankful a week so my intention is to mainly use Momentum as it certainly goes well on it, even if people on one of the forums reckon the exhaust pipes turn black much quicker using Momentum than VPower.

13p difference in/around Sevenoaks between their unleaded and V-Power.

I'm currently going with the approach mentioned here before of using it every 4th fill, otherwise I've been using Momentum, which is saving me £7 per tank/week. Had a 70 bonus point offer on the 11th June and yesterday got a double points offer so maybe they are feeling the pinch a little.

..11p more than what? You can’t use the comparative with saying what you are comparing too!

In comparison to their standard unleaded, obviously.

Still 121.9 at Sainsbury's for Super and 116.9 for standard.

The place is always rammed even at 6.30am on the way to work, the lady on the checkout was telling me that they open at 5am and had people waiting.

I buy the cheapest fuel i can find and it doesn't make any difference to the running of my cars.

Cheapest fuel is usually Tesco/Esso. I paid 126.9 for unleaded yesterday here:-

https://tinyurl.com/y8dsprfv

I have used Tesco fuel since Jack Cohen was in short trousers and it never dun me no 'arm.

I not surprised at those prices. Cheapest 95 round my way is 123.9 and this isn't an expensive area.
