Valid points, I just haven't had much time.
Not sure about the cleaning comment as the car had just been valeted! Couple of parking tickets from that day and a water bottle shouldn't be a huge issue to a serious buyer I would hope.

But you do need your ads to stand out and it’s not a good one. First impressions and all that but if I see a poor ad I do tend to think they are properly a bit slap dash with everything, like the car.

Point taken, I've just been short on time. I'm going to edit it later today at lunch. Many thanks.

Ebay won't let me edit from my phone which is annoying!

I've actually jsut noticed the trackie pic. Christ that makes it look council. Ring is tiny, it makes it look hideous. Right I'm going to redo a load of this. I tried to show it as it is and highlight imperfections but at the same time I just expected the "wots best price" brigade to look at it.

Yeah I have someone at a local vw getting back to me about the locking. Honestly I am still in two minds about keeping it hence the shoddy ad. Turns out I can't edit it now because someone has bid to reserve price. I'm half tempted to end it and start again and inform the bidder. I only want to add a lot of additional information and pics!

And to top it off the current bidder has 30 positive feedback but when you look almost all of them are complaining that they don't pay. How can eBay allow it to be positive feedback? This was my worry, that I would just get dreamers and total idiots.

As I advised earlier, do a Classifieds Ad. That way people can't bid and will turn up (hopefully) if they are serious.

The ad's pretty terrible as you know. I said 'decent pictures and description'. It doesn't look like you want to sell the car.
Some good tips from the guys above.

I'll still take 10% though...

I misread and thought you said auction. I think because of the other gti you mentioned which went at auction I just did that. You're absolutely right though, this does bring out the dross. I've updated the text with service history but eBay is a massive pain. Not being able to edit pictures is annoying and the feedback system is ridiculous. 30 positive feedback and everyone says it's a time waster. Urgh I might go the classified route as you say.

Nice Golf. You aren't a member at David Lloyd at Newhaven? I'm sure I have seen this car!

I also have a Mk5 GTI thinking about selling too but not if its a buyers market. Sadly. Mine is on 37k, grey, 3dr manual. Cloth interior.

Will keep an eye on this thread but more detail in the ad is always positive particularly around the service book. Hope you get a sale!

Not my golf at Newhaven, but nice to know there are more Shadow Blues out there. I do love the colour and I realise the interior is "marmite" to some!

I think a 37k GTI would do very well!!! My other half said I should garage it and see what happens in a year but we just don't have the space really.

Do not buy this car. The owner lives in a cartoon smiley cross-eyed house.

As a seller you cannot leave negative feedback for buyers anymore, hence positive feedback with negative comments (it's the only way you can warn other sellers now) & loads more timewasters who don't pay as they know they won't get a load of negative feedback / potentially banned.

Anyone know if there should be much of a price difference between Manual and DSG on the Mk5 GTi?

Yep, it's a nightmare - I have looked to see how I can get that bid remove but then what's to say it won't happen again. One bit of feedback says the "rsehole won the same thin three times and never paid. Unbelievable.

That's why you go the Classified Ad route. Feedback makes no difference. They either turn up or they don't.

Put an email address in the ad or a contact number and ask them the questions rather than the other way round. If they sound serious, invite them to have a look at the car. You may get people trying to chip you on the price, but you just say no and off they go.

People play ebay like a game. I don't understand the mentality of bidding on something when you have no intention of buying it.
