Your post is unedited.

My quoting of your post was what I edited. There's a very big difference.

It's the latter, and possibly not even that.

When the LSR was considered important and high-profile, Goodyear had test rigs that could simulate the running of tyres at these sort of speeds. We're talking about 60 years ago - ancient history. They got rid of them because everybody realised that the LSR was a pointless exercise, with no validity for road vehicle development.

As has been pointed out above, anyone with a brain has realised that ICE supercars are now a blind alley. The world is moving on. Let's not pretend that these high-speed pissing competitions have any validity in terms of engineering research: they're just a marketing tool to project glamour to the gullible and those who (for reasons best known to themselves) wish to impress schoolboys.

No. You edited a post that's under my name.

Why? To insult other posters who hold a different opinion.

Poor form.

Siemens, who are involved in Bloodhound's software, have found much of their tech in the car will be of great use in the medical arena, directly feeding into equipment used by the NHS, for example. I understand how Goodyear might have lost interest in it many moons ago (they certainly didn't in drag racing, they have the monopoly on NHRA pro class tyre supply to this day), but there's other aspects of technology development at play than just car development.

I still mess around with ICE's containing push rods, so am in that group of folk minus a brain biggrin

Yeah, let's face it: all forms of human endeavour are ultimately pointless.

Let's just have a sit down and a cup of tea.

Stop reading that book, you.

And why are you bothering to listen to music?

Don't you realise it's pointless?

Stop having fun, it's such a waste of time.

You are so odd.

Quite tedious.

Don't drag me into your nonsense again by editing things I've written.

Our interaction is at an end.

Anyway, I always thought the F40 was only tested at 199mph by the various mags of the time?
I thought it was tested to 201 or 202, then the Diablo came along and matched it or was 1mph higher?! My memory is getting fuzzy admittedly!
CAR magazine managed a fair bit higher, 217mph IIRC.

Edit, I was wrong, that was the XJ220 - https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/features/car-culture...

That's nice, dear.

Do let me know when you understand the difference between editing your post (which only a mod/you can do) and editing quoted text (which anybody can do).

Seconded. Why you feel the need to stomp your bile on every thread you enter is a mystery.

The irony, of course, is that I'm not the one stamping my feet and telling people not to do things because it's SOOOO unfair.

The real irony is that you come back with a point in case. Anyways, I'm not being drawn in. As you were.

FFS. So much bickering.

300 mph is exciting to me, just as 100 mph was when I was a kid in my Dad's Volvo 480.

(Granted, I doubt my Dad will be buying a Koenigsegg)

Sorry, aimed at the chap who always arrives on a thread, says something unpleasant and then wonders why it kicks off.
