RE: Focus RS owners offered 'free repair'

Out of curiosity, have any RS owners on here actually had the recall carried out yet. I'm not yet aware of one. Although I am aware of one in bits in a garage in the south east awaiting an engine that may never turn up.
I'll admit I know feck all about engines but surely driving around in one for this long with this issues is 1) not good for the car and 2) going to depreciate the feck out of it even more once a buyer realises that?

Real shame all this . The RS3 is a cracking car for the money especially a used one now but the hysteria surrounding the engine issues have damaged its reputation for reliability and Ford are to blame.
I’d have previously bought the focus over a golf but now I think I’d go buy the golf just for peace of mind and hassle free motoring
audi have not had a problem with their engineI’d have previously bought the focus over a golf but now I think I’d go buy the golf just for peace of mind and hassle free motoring
well mine lunched it self, but that appears to be a one off

If you really do own a MK3 RS, you can check if your vehicle requires work or not - you will need to enter your VIN and it will come up with the re-call details.I'll admit I know feck all about engines but surely driving around in one for this long with this issues is 1) not good for the car and 2) going to depreciate the feck out of it even more once a buyer realises that?

Mine has the revised July 2017 build engine, so no work required against my VIN.

The recall is waiting on letters from Ford - they overshot with the announcement prior to stock of the parts being stockpiled.I'll admit I know feck all about engines but surely driving around in one for this long with this issues is 1) not good for the car and 2) going to depreciate the feck out of it even more once a buyer realises that?
Plenty have had the "fix" which is a pressure test and then a new gasket or new gasket and head, any dealer car stock has to go out fixed and any actual failures or symptom cars are also being repaired.
Etis now shows the FSA but the Ford Pass app doesn't as yet, some dealers are taking the work on others aren't until you rock up with a letter which hasn't been sent out yet.
So no if you have no coolant loss then running around will be fine, if you have an issue then it will get the fix

I'm waiting on my recall letter, I'm not in any hurry though, it'll get fixed either when the letter arrives or if the car goes wrong before then.
In the meantime I'll continue to drive it like i've always driven it.
Same here, I'll carry on enjoying it - slipped over the 10k mark the other day, been running the 375 kit since last JuneIn the meantime I'll continue to drive it like i've always driven it.

Cheers Ian. I have now. And after chasin* the garage mine went in last Tuesday. Failed the pressure test so now waiting on the cylinde4 heads. Actually went in Saturday to get stuff out of the car. My poor car! Looks a fecking mess.
Mine went in Tuesday also - was yours in Chester by any chance as they had one pass and one fail? Its a shame to read of such a widespread and very serious issue spoiling the enjoyment of ownership for so many.
It takes me back to the days of the MK2 Fabia vRS and their twincharger engine. Owners had oil consumption tests carried out and there were numerous 'fixes' that ranged from different breather pipes to new pistons and rings. In the end the engine was ditched by VAG.
I genuinely hope that this Ford fix sorts the problems many seem to have and people can get on with enjoying the car as it is supposed to be.

I was still happily enjoying mine before the fix, just hoping nothing has been messed around with whilst in for the repair lolIt takes me back to the days of the MK2 Fabia vRS and their twincharger engine. Down in West Sussex. I’m assuming a retest occurs after the relevant works take place.
In your case a new head and gasket are fitted and you'll be on your way, the pressure test is to see if you actually need the headGassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
