RE: Audi RS4 vs. Mercedes-AMG C63 S
Discussion
I think Audi have lost the plot at the moment. Both the RS4 and RS5 are pretty average looking things set off with truly awful alloys. Then we get to the engine and exhaust note, both are severely lacking making a car which should have a large sense of occasion lacking. They aren't really the RS cars of old.
Crazy to think how good the RS3's 2.5 5 cylinder is versus the numb and lifeless sound engine in the RS5.
I'm glad Mercedes have retained the V8, it's no-where near as sonorous as the epic 6.2 V8, but it still provides a great growl and should put the smile on the face of nearly any petrolhead when you press the ignition button.
Non S C63 estate with mech diff for me too next! I had high hopes for the new RS4 as it's a scratch I haven't itched... I think I much prefer the tamer S4.

c63s AMG for me. RS4 lovely but too long in the tooth.
Maybe Audi can pull a new design out the bag as Mercs are getting more and chintzy.. Too much chrome, too strong angles on the outer design, too many buttons inside, etc. I'm prefer calmer styling with stealth mode power. And a proper in built police/camera detection system

We’ve all done it though.
Accidentally buying 500bhp V8 when we meant to buy a Leaf. I’d complain.
I realise the damage is done - I am a tree hugger. Just have no love for the current C63 or Audi, therefore not a troll.Accidentally buying 500bhp V8 when we meant to buy a Leaf. I’d complain.
Nothing wrong with a Tesla S or the forthcoming Ariel electric car.
But here's a link to a few of the cars owned - quite a few missing from the 70/80/90s. http://rockenterprises.co.uk/cars

Odd maybe on PH, sure, although I don't see why the image of a car/driver enthusiasts should be the same as a one-dimentional cliché of a 'non-tree hugger', my bad that I understand that car universe exist only because of the natural world that entirely supports its being. As I see it, sustainability is because I want it to continue... Although self driving cars will probably kill the joy of driving before that. But I disgress.
Oh, C63's are used a lot here in town. One could pass past my window ten times within an hour
I thinks it's probably because cars are generally deemed non-environmental and as car fans, most of the cars we probably dream of are not exactly eco wagons. I can see the thought behind it but regardless of the progress of electric vehicles we'll still see plenty of gas guzzlers before everyone goes electric.Oh, C63's are used a lot here in town. Personally I love the idea of having a daily car which produces zero emissions and then a hefty V8 engine for a couple of thousand miles a year.

Can't say fairer than that IMO. The thing that strikes me as a tad hypocritical and overbearing in the OP is " ... and should be outlawed." That translate roughly as Ï have had my fun (with a C63 that in all probability was a fair bit less fuel efficient than the current one), I now don't see the point anymore and so you shouldn't have one, either." To which my response would be pretty much "fk off", too - who made the OP the judge of what consumption of finite resources is allowed, and what not? After all he'll probably live in a bigger house than my downtown apartment and/or have kids - can I legitimately ask him to move to a single bed flat because I don't see the point of having a big house or ask him to put a knot in his manhood because we're with more than enough people as it is?

There is a huge debate about the merits of Diesel in this environmentally aware world. These cars are equally as bad, if not worse in the environmentally sensitive world.
Surely, PH should be asking why? PH is speed matters, but not at the cost f the planet. Audi and MB should be able to do more with less.
I owned the previous generation C63 and I no longer see the point, except for bragging prowess.

The only single environmentally friendly form of transport is a bicycle. And only then if it's made of recyclable materials (without rubber tyres or any of that gubbins). There simply isn't such a thing. EV's require electricity, where do you think that comes from? Manufacturing batteries, tyres etc all requires fossil fuels of some sort at some stage of the process.Surely, PH should be asking why? PH is speed matters, but not at the cost f the planet. If you're of that mind you're probably not in the right place so as others said I'd politely suggest that you fk off.

Tongue in cheek. Good response eh? Just get fed of Pistonheads doing the same old crap. Yep have two German cars - M50D and 435D with a Nomad on order. Had some daft stuff so think I am a PHer - 6R4's - R35 GTR - Golf R and many more.
If you're bored with this sort of car then do all of us a favour and find a type of car you are interested in rather than suggesting that they should be banned. If you can't find one then leave us to our hobby and find another one as it clearly isn't for you anymore.FFS where do these people come from? We wont be allowed to do anything interesting in this bloody world after every conflicting group gets eachother's interest banned.

Don't get me started on the environmental issues producing and powering 'zero emission' electric cars. Something that Mr Elon Musk fails to mention in his plan to save the world....
That is definitely one for another thread but yes, it's something people don't quite consider. Keeping an old car running vs green credentials of building a brand new vehicle.

This. And politicians of all creeds and colours are all too happy to oblige. Be careful with what you wish for, indeed.
Can someone explain how >>insert 90% of manufacturers here<< can go from a base car at £29k to beyond £77k.
£29k base avant petrol model (granted its 1.4). Change the engine, add some leather, a new steering wheel, uprate the suspension and boom...
£47k base v6 model S4. Tweak the engine, a diff upgrade, blow out the arches and wallop...
£62k base price for an RS4
I know this is a very general overview but if nothing more I feel the discussion needs to move away from fossil fuel burning and tree hugging diesel comparisons.
Is there really over £33k of development and upgrades per car between the base and the halo?
Is there £15k difference between the S4 and Rs4?
Yes I have always wanted an RS4 and no, I dont have £62k.
