Very nice, guessing the plate was from a previous car?
Well the registration itself was a 21st present (from both parents) so had it on a couple of cars before it landed on the Megane.

The actual plate with the slightly dodgy devil on the side though, I've actually removed that. Just a plane and simple plate now.

I personally think it's an interesting car. Very few of these original MKI Megane 225s were really looked after. They became cheaper and cheaper as do many French hot hatches and in turn just became a bit unloved.

For me, it's always been a cool car. Made a logical step up from my Clio 172, I got to choose the colour which had to be Inferno and ticked the boxes I wanted. Actually a far more capable car than you'd be led to believe, just lacked the LSD of the R26 but had a stack load more toys. Keyless entry/ignition, electric folding mirrors, self tinting rear view mirrors etc. Stuff that wasn't common back in 2006.

As for the mileage, it is a genuine 3,250. I bought the car as I'd just taken a job up in the city and bought a cheap station car. I then bought my own place and put this in my garage. I've rolled it out a few times since but it's pretty much unchanged and sat covered up in there. The cheap station car has become three other cars since then, plus the arrival of children, more work commitments etc means I've not done anything with it.

Apart from the sentimental aspect of it, the actual value has dropped so low there's little point in selling it anyway. smile

I've had this since 1992!

Was my daily for 10 years, nearly sold it for an Audi coupe but had an epiphany, and decided preserve it, and run a shed as a daily.
It now has an EFi conversion and I do use it. It's been taxed and MOT'd for almost all my ownership, it does 2000-3000 miles per year.
It is staggeringly reliable and costs sod all to have so it will be sold by my children after my death (they can then finally convert the garage to another room on the houselaugh)

Yep smile

Had it for almost 6 years now, longest I've ever owned anything! (short time compared to most here, but it'll be here forever I'm sure)

I hate selling cars, perhaps because I keep them so long I become attached, or perhaps that's just the way I think of things. I can't think of a reason I'd ever sell my Firenza which I've had for 30+ years, nor the Sportshatch that I've spent 9 years restoring. When I bought my "new" daily driver I kept the Audi I was going to trade in against it, and now I can't really think that I'd sell the daily. It dawned on me the other day that my daily, despite being the most expensive car I've ever bought (though a mere trifle by comparison to a lot of the cars on here), is now the oldest daily driver I've run.

I'd wage it's probably worth a reasonable amount. I'd hazard a guess £10k at least, it is essentially only just out of its wrapper!

Very hard to speculate mind.

Yeah, it is a tricky one to gauge. The renewal I had on the insurance the other year was £1,600. I did an agreed valuation for £6,500 which was the most they'd cover it for.

In theory it's as new though, interior is completely unmarked and I think it has one stone chip on the front. Fully serviced up until it was SORN'd, original exhaust, tyres (they'd need changing) etc.

This. Owned by my step mum since '73, to be handed to me. Would never sell.

This...

A small fortune spent so far to get it exactly how I want it with a few more things in the pipeline.

Retired now (early I hasten to add biggrin) and wanted something I could retire disgracefully with, this fits the bill perfectly.

I've had the SVX almost 17 years (end of May), and whilst I do take her off the road for extended periods, I can't see myself ever selling. She's one of only a hundred official UK imports through Subaru UK (hardly any left), and still looks other worldly even now.

Library pic, but you get the idea...

I'm hugely attached to this Mk1 Golf GTI Cabriolet.

My dad picked me up from the hospital in it when I was a few days old. I don't think anyone believed him when he pledged to keep it for me, but I'm glad he kept his promise.

We recently treated it to a bit of a resto, including paint, a brand new 8 valve motor and it's first replacement clutch after 160k miles.

It might not be the connoisseurs pick of the GTI range, but last summer when I was enjoying the Supersprint exhaust, roof down, stupid shades on, it certainly felt like it.

That's a great car to have with the back story

Owned my MX5 for 18 years, i recently put it up for sale as ive bought a daily driver that can fulfil the daily/weekend fun requirements as i rarely ever get to drive it, however i just cant face letting it go after all this time and expense, current plan is to sell the supercharger kit and a lot of the expensive/rare parts ive added over the years and just use during the summer as an occasional weekend/track car.

This - my '93 Hilux. It belonged to my dad (sadly passed away 15 years ago now). We sold it when he passed away, then my brother stumbled across it a few years ago languishing in a shed at a local 4x4 specialist. It had been living on a farm as a shoot truck and other than a good caking of mud, horse poo and the usual detritus of such a life, was still in very good nick.

We bought it without a second thought and I set about restoring it to original condition. The bodywork dents etc. are testament to it's working life with my dad (part time property developer/builder), so it wears them with pride.

I must have had a least a dozen people knock on the front door of the house trying to buy it! Could never bring ourselves to part with it now. Proper classic and still serves us very well for building work and tip runs etc.

Great story.... great truck. Make sure the harmless travellers don't nick it.
