Of all the colour they could have chosen??, they could have gone for something like the legendary Imperial Blue.

Orange just seems an odd choice.

No odder than a black car wrapped matte black like the MK2 RS500 smile

You'd think it would be something like Imp Blue, not orange. It would've been cool to see it in Imperial with a green start button. Seems like a pretty anti-climactic way to end what was a very good hot hatch, even with the flaws.

The dealer is local (15 miles away) It apparently sold for mid 50's. Are you forgetting £80k Escorts, £100k Sierras and £30k Fiestas? Just like Porsche, any Limited Fast Ford will sell for whatever people want it to sell for.
I find it very hard not to think the arse is going to fall out of that in the not too distant future.
Correct. Very correct.
Some cars are being quietly moved on by owners that have the foresight to know the game is just about over.
Who'll be holding at the end?

Oh joy, a Mk3 FRS in orange - still at least they didn't crap on the heritage of the RS500 like the previous run-out of the Mk2. Hopefully they'll have sorted out the head gasket issues too hehegetmecoat

In that colour it just looks like someone has done what happened with countless Mk2's (and quite a few Mk3's based on eBay) where they've taken an ST, fitted a fibreglass replica RS kit, replica wheels and then wrapped / painted it and then market it for sale on eBay as an FRS (before typing "actually an ST" in small print in the advert text).

Edit - don't get me wrong, I love the Mk3 FRS - but this one and the previous red edition just seem totally pointless to me - although as a Ford owner myself, I do appreciate that these will probably sell for stupid amounts of £££££ in future years wink

This is the absolute final - last to be produced before the line gets turned off April this year - that's from the MD
What about the unsold ones at the end ? Ideal for another 'special' edition - quick last chance to order your 'unsold edition' RS!

I like the little carbon interior bits of these edition cars and the LSD and power hike is interesting although the former possibly removes an element of fun but I can't help (as previously said) but think they look so much better in blue.

Performance blue or imperial blue would be much better or even a yellow one, the orange just doesn't suit it.

People pay strong money for fast fords from the 70's-early 2000s because they lusted after them after as kids and then later in life have the money to acquire what they wanted when they were younger.

I'm not sure today's 7-17 year olds will lust after that. The market for fast fords is being sustained mainly by blokes over 40 and when they start dying the market is going to wilt like their peckers.

And that's ignoring what happens to the market in the interim as interest rates drift up and the argument that you can't get a decent return at the bank falls away.

You just saved me typing. They also have money to purchase from the changes in drawing down of pension funds (thinking that a Ford is a better bet than a pension fund) as well as unearned income like inheritance.

Low? With only 50 of them being made I'd be happy to put on a very healthy wager that these will NEVER depreciate.
I agree they're limited enough in volume they will probably appreciate if the factors affecting the current market remain constant. But I still find it unfathomable how the Focus RS500 has maintained and increased it's value over an RS Lux 1 or 2 with Mountine MP350 kit. Basically identical product in black with a 3M matt vinyl wrap.

I have a 17year old brother and 5 year old and 10 year old boys. When I get the RS out of the garage trust me, they lust after it as much as I used to an Escort Cosworth. My little brothers mates absolutely love it too.

My kids also point out every Porsche, Mclaren & Lamborghini we drive past. Nothing has changed since I was young in this regard. I used to love my Dads Capris, xr3is etc and uncles R5 Turbos. When I go to Ford shows or indeed German or JDM shows and track days there is no shortage of young people.

What you are saying is a complete fallacy. The shows and "scenes" are growing every year. Ford Fair last year was an absolute sea of Focus/Fiesta STs and generally these were driven by older teens or 20 something year olds. The older guys tended to have the older cars but there was much more modern stuff than old.

There is some sense in there. The pre crash rs scene was enthusiast driven, by people who literally lived and breathed it. The older stuff is sentiment driven, it's like any scene, and as you said who will sustain it when all the guys die who were around when this stuff was around i.e. On the road.

Time they are old enough to afford it, they'll be drawing their pension at probably 80! Kids nowadays haven't a cats chance of a decent job when the robots take over. Plus the mountain of debt.

I'd say that the jury is out on if the MK3 Focus RS will become a future classic and rise significantly in value. I'm fully aware that history dictates that all RS models will hold their value and will eventually go up, even more so with these limited edition models.

I'm just personally a bit skeptical about this new one. I'll probably be proven wrong though.
Is this a serious post? Ford have recalled all RS Foci MK3 for the much-trumpeted head gasket issue, then CANCELLED THE RECALL (I'm not joking) because it will take until 2022 to get the right parts in. Google it if you don't believe me.

To then be putting this up when they should be putting their energies in to sorting out poor blighters like me who already done bought one of these makes comedians of us all. It's farce, do not buy this car it's farce.

Like I said before if anyone wants to make a documentary about how bad the MK3 RS has been then I'm willing to contribute.

Agree with you Martin, even die hard RS fans will avoid these like the plague, once the doubt is in there, do you want to risk a car with a dodgy engine and what else did they do badly that hasnt shown up yet....

Incorrect. Suspended the recall, not cancelled it. Sealant is on the way and some cars have already been done where dealerships had the sealant anyway. Don't know where you're getting 2022 from; maybe you've misread the FSA is valid unto 2023?

Everyone forgotten the imploding inlets in the Mk2 Focus RS? These things happen on lots of cars.

Stop worrying about it and enjoy it. If it goes pop you've got a warranty so it'll get fixed. Get a grip FFS.
