When someone is saying a leaf is hard to service you know they are pure trolling.

None of those say that petrol development has ended
There's hybrid development but straight ice power trains is over.
Where does it say that?
Still curious to know where you read this?

What makes you think i read it? It's not in black and white in the news because it's not something people publish. Read between the lines and talk to people.

Mercedes are worried about being sued by suppliers because they are switching over from diesel...

Damned right!

Plugging it in and unplugging it takes, what, five seconds each time? So say five minutes per month if we did it every day which we wouldn't need to. The nearest petrol station is four miles away which takes about ten minutes each way, then there may or may not be a queue, then filling the tank takes a good couple of minutes. So five minutes standing in the comfort of my own garage, or well ocwe half an hour faffing about driving through traffic then standing on a cold, wet forecourt... let me think about which of those things I prefer the sound of. hehe

Neither is exactly a major thing, but even ignoring the savings on fuel I'd happily pay an extra £50 a month to avoid having to go to petrol stations.
Or fill up when you are passing a petrol station anyway

So you have no evidence to back up your statements. Ok

Which is fine if you regularly pass a petrol station... and then you still have to stand around in the cold on a petrol station forecourt. No thanks. Filling the family car up with petrol is not something I'm going to miss when we go electric.

I'm still a bit bemused by what's so hard about plugging a cable, which will be hanging on the wall about two feet from the car, into a socket? Realistically it will take no extra time at all because it'll be far quicker than waiting for our three year-old to clamber in or out of the car.

You only need to pass 1 every couple of weeks. And you only need to stand in the cold for 2-3 minutes.

Which is still far longer than I'd have to stand in my own nice warm garage plugging in an electric cable!

Obviously I can live with a petrol car, I've no intention of swapping my Elise for an EV. But the idea that (assuming you have a garage, as I do) plugging in a cable is somehow more work than going to a petrol station is just weird.

You struggle to stand outside for 2-3 minutes?

Not at all, thanks, but I wouldn't say it was top of my list of favourite ways to spend my time. And if I'm going to do so, I'd rather do it in my own garden than on a petrol station forecourt.

So we can remove filling a car with petrol as a problem then. Good.

I don't remember anyone ever claiming it was a problem? Just that it's more effort and time than plugging in an EV which someone was claiming was.

I don't hugely mind having to do it and I will continue to do it for my fun car because that's worth it. But for the family car it's a negative point; not a huge one, but a negative point none-the-less.

Probably at that point in time when my cars are no longer allowed in the city center. Will be a hassle to then rent garage space outside the city, but am sure it is only a question of time (less of it than I wish)

Easy, use Formula E technology.

Charge two cars, tow one behind the other, when the first runs put of juice switch them round. You need to think outside the box.

I can see the whoosh parrot being needed though smile
