When I can no longer drive something with a decent engine, or if I fall on hard times before that.

They are tools and no more than that so as long as I can hold out I will do so.

I don't care about the environment so it would have to be a purely financial reason to switch. At the moment that looks many many years away.

And even then I won't get rid of my ICE cars if I can help it.

Same old bks being spouted.

I bought a used leaf 2 and a half years and 25000 miles ago. Saves us around £1500/year on fuel compared to the previous tdi.
Its currently worth a couple of hundred less than I paid for it.
I'm sure that by the time it dies it will have paid for itself in fuel savings.

As soon as they become prevalent and affordable on the used market.

Looks like quite a few luddites are going to be riding Shank's pony in the not too distant future... biggrin

When these two are affordable, unless they put them out with petrol options. All other EV look dire in comparison.

As a weekend car, never. I can't see the appeal in a silent 'fun' car, no matter how fast it is
What “weekend fun” in a car do you envisage having in a decades time, that won’t be just as achievable in an EV? I’m not seeing it.

In a world where the Golf R and numerous BMWs have fake noise pumped through the stereo, and 2ltr diesels are covered in M and AMG badges, I find the obsession with noise quite funny from many corners.

I like noise too, but not on my daily commute.

Parked outside the chip shop revving his engine.

More horrendous looking EV cars you can probably order this year.

Trying doing that in your average EV though ...

The lack of awareness of EV zealots is staggering.

If I’m honest I’m more excited about autonomous driving

I think this is quite a good point. I quite dislike that when i floor my i3 there is no sound. It is fun, but not involving enough. I would be quite happy if more sound was there when accelerating hard, even just piped through the speakers given that ice cars do this

When it'll do >400mi range and drops cheap enough to justify buying.

At the moment the nearest thing is a Tesla and even if the electricity would be free spending 70k on a car to save all of £90 a month is madness!
