Lol.

Looks like something from a 10-yearold who's just read an old copy of his dad's Max Power magazine.

Just awful.
You just stick to putting up facts that "you quoted" on Alaska being the safest place in the US gun death wise rather than being distracted by such fripperies smile We are still all waiting on the PH News thread for your next "insight". Where some people have an infinite amount of monkeys to do Shakespear you struggle to use just one to do posts on PH.

Forget the looks this Supra engine has 2 be able to do at least 1000bhp after the fact wink

Looking forward to more.

Those specs surely have to keep the price down to the c£50K bracket. Given the frenetic level of internet activity recently I was expecting a snarling V8 with or without turbos, 0-60 closer to 3.1-3.2 seconds and a silly top speed coming in at around the £80K+ level for a base car.

However, if the published specs are accurate then perhaps this is a £50K entry level car and some more breathed upon versions may appear at a later date, which would be nice smile

I'm a TVR man but don't like the face on the new Griffith, or the price to be honest, but this looks a much better proposition in terms of price and performance for that outlay if my presumption is accurate.
That was always going to be a stretch as the BMW version of this is the Z4 not the new 8 series and the V8 from the M5 is going to be limited to the 8 series.

If you really wanted to get a high performance version of this I'd wait till BMW announce the inevitable M model for the Z4 and see what engine Toyota fit in response.

Only way this car is hitting 0-60 in 3.8 seconds if it is 4 wheel drive, some very sticky tyres, a decent auto box, and launch control. The Golf R with ~15% less power and similar weight will do it in ~4.5 seconds (with the DSG). If it has some fancy electric motor to assist the launch then it becomes more believable.

With that amount of HP, there’s no way it can do 0-62mph in 3.8s...
If the figures are accurate, my guess is some kind of electrical assistance. The engine and power output strongly suggest the B58 from the M140i/M240i (same power figure, same displacement) given this was supposed to be some kind of BMW collaboration (unless I'm barking totally up the wrong tree).

I am so disappointed in that front bumper I can't look at the rest of the car frown

The specs, size and what I'd guess to be a ~£50k price are all nice, but the styling is just not to my tastes at all..

The FT-1 concept was just a bit better flowing at the front...

That looks like quite a bit of front overhang.

There's no way this puts out only 340hp, just like the R35 GTR didn't put out 340hp.

For reference a 17 year old bmw m3 (e46) has the same weight and power and its 0-60 is approx 5secs.

Hopefully it's a driving over performance type car like the gt86 smile

Looks great still, given engine spec mentioned do we think this is the BMW engine used in 140, 340 etc as similar power level? Sounds from specs might be a sub £50k car rather than something on a par with new Honda NSX or r35. This would be good news for me as far more relisticly likely to own one at some point of the case.

Looks quite interesting.
Styling wise it is 'fresh' and purposeful.
Acceleration figures maybe possible given the torque and weight, and more importantly the possible gearing. (From an auto-box likely).

I bet the manual gear box version would be fun - although 0-60 time would likely be about 4sec.
It is shouting BMW M2 in a racier body to me at the moment.

Lets see what comes of it when its finally released.

Highly likely, I'd say. Which gives the interesting question of what gearbox it gets - will it be ZF8 or DCT?

And will it be RWD or 4WD - 0-60 in <4 seconds would imply 4wd to me unless it comes with very sticky rubber. Even then I'm not sure how possible it is for a car with only just over 200bhp/tonne.

I was lucky enough to see the FT-1 when I visited Toyota Mega Web in Japan. The concept was very good looking.

While I can see some of the FT-1 in these pictures it looks very ungainly (although this could be down to looking at magazine scans).

The motorsport version doesn't look too bad but the road car looks very awkward. Here's hoping it's just a case of a bad colour choice or poor scans distorting it.

0-60 in 3.8s which suggest 0-62 in 4.0-4.1s

332HP, similar torque in a car under 1500kg, I'd say its possible with a very good automatic/twin clutch gear box. Even more so if it is RWD biased AWD setup, otherwise only possible on warm day on warm sticky tyres.

But modern automatics are like having another 100HP on tap with how effectively they put power down and change gear.

Looks like they contracted out the styling to BMW.

So now the (jointly developed) Z4 will look sensational!

Seriously, that looks terrible!

225/50R17 front tyres, 255/45R17 rear? In 2018? Yeah right. 100% fake.
