So how fast can you go for £2k. Just curious.

You could do 186mph and 0-60 in 3 seconds if you buy a used litre superbike for £2k, which you can!

Fiat coupe 20vTurbo.

0-100mph in 14.5 seconds, although the prices for good ones have started rising rapidly lately.

I took mine to 150mph 14 years ago and that was an old car then. Would hate to do that speed now.

Read the OP smile

If you empty out most of the interior would that count as modifying?
Some of these 2k sheds would really shift.

Mine always felt very nervous at higher speeds. Not a car I was ever compelled to find the top end of to be honest (even though I delimited it), but an otherwise brilliant car.

Audi A8 4.2 Quattro.

0-60 in low 6s.
Remove the limiter and you'll see 170mph+
Which bit of 'no fiddling' did you struggle with in the OP?
It doesnt say 'No fiddling', it says 'Bog stock cars, no tuning'.

Removing a limiter isn't tuning, you're not affecting the map or power output in any way.

I recently bought a Boxster S for £2k which in theory will do 160ish. I doubt this particular one will though as it has seen better days.

With some luck £2k might get a W220 Merc S600TT which will do almost 200 with the limiter removed (no modifications just a menu change on a computer)

What's the criteria for fast ?

0-60

Top speed

If handling counts a Clio 1-2 or civic r type would get you round a track quicker and only a second or 2 slower to 60 than a aero

I was gonna say that.

Someone posted a Saab Aero on page 1 i think but the 0-60 on that was only 7.8, accordingly to AT. Granted it was an automatic an may not be accurate but still.

I suppose the Aero would be much quicker in gear though.

Decent W210 E55s cost a lot more than 2k these days!

Can get a decent Clio for that though. There's barely anything in it between the two either.

Isn't a manual aero 6.9 seconds to 60 ?

The saabs trump card though is it's acceleration in 3rd gear on a long straight road my clio cup would of been left floundering by my saab , however on a track i think the cup could of been quicker .

I don't think removing a limiter counts a tuning so I think that's allowed so long as you can buy the car and cover the cost of getting the limiter removed for the £2K limit.

The reason I deliberately disqualified bikes is because I. Have seen Honda Blackbirds go for less than the thread limit and they get damn close to 200mph. Getting a bike that manages high speed is too easy so I am just looking at cars.

I'm quite surprised just how may cars are capable of 150 mph within this budget. Quite a few that I wouldn't mind owning TBH.

Manual version was quoted 6.5s to 60 and top speed of 155. Wish i'd kept mine!
