Why do people buy vauxhalls?

I fking hate vauxhalls
Especially corsa D, the fking thing shakes like I don't know what when you move anywhere, it's so unresolved, the engines are lumpy, the steering is st, getting into my mk6 fiesta feels like a roller. Hell even the nasty tacky plastic in the middle of the dash is horrible compared to the fiestas albeit less crap but still crap plastic

And yet students my age keep buying the fking things

I think they rely on the spec. GSi I think looks good, some of the lower models really don't suit their own styling.

The Ecotec D or D Turbo badging really annoys me. Vauxhall really overuses that Turbo badge (and my last two cars have been Vauxhalls with Turbo badges on the boot!)

The rental car in green outside our office looked very strange. Like an old fashioned, "futuristic" wedge car.

Not really on topic but I have fond memories of Vauxhaull's, although I've never owned one myself...

I've long held the view of rather a Vauxhall than a Ford, they always represented practical good value cars to me, though my experience of both is a bit dated having moved onto other marques in recent years.

The wife’s sister recently bought an Astra SRi Nav 1.6 diesel

6 months old low miles and £10k with Nav,apple car play, cruise, climate control etc

She is getting 60mpg out of it on her 80 mile round trip commute

It’s cheap to run, insure, tax and maintain

What’s not to like ?

Given the choice between Corsa, Fiesta and Polo, I have to take the Corsa because I'm too tall for the others; my eyes are at the top of the windscreen/side windows in Fiestas and Polos but Corsas are fine.

As it happens, my 'small' cars is a Suzuki Swift because that also gives me plenty of headroom, although the driver's seat is slid back almost as far as it will go.

I've been saying this for ages about Fiestas and Polos but no one seems to agree. My mate is 6'6" and has a Fiesta but has never mentioned it whereas I notice it every time I'm in one and I'm only 6'3". It's really uncomfortable

That's either a one-off or a photoshop, being a Chevette nose on a Kadett Coupe rear. Vauxhall never sold the Chevette as a Coupe, only hatch, saloon and estate.

I’m such a fool. Last year I leased an Astra 1.6T Elite Nav. It’s got 200bhp, hits 60 in 6.6 seconds, has a quality leather interior, loads of toys, a great sounding 8 inch touch screen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple car play. It corners flat but is still comfortable, averages 45 mpg and hasn’t put a foot wrong in 16k miles. To top it all, it costs a whopping £215 a month to lease. Why oh why did I choose it over other cars? I kick myself every day.

Haha. I've heard good things about that particular car. My wife finally got herself a family wagon, so I'm free to get what I want next time around... Everything considered from an Astra or 2 series through to a Porsche 997 or Mustang GT. I just want something to hoon around in that has some shove, good driving dynamics and relative comfort. The 200ps Astra caught my eye, and I had a 2.0 from the previous series. How are they for getting the power down, being FWD? Do you get much front tyre slip / have to be very careful accelerating away? Any other comments? Shame they don't do it with the Insignia's adaptive dampers and AWD, while keeping the manual box...

That's the model I'm interested in, having the Astra H Turbo 200 at the moment. An Elite estate would be ideal
