I'm glad someone else noticed this. I see one near my way that's convertible and it simply doesn't look right to me at all. I know many hard-top cars may suffer the same but it really ruins the look of the M4 for me.
No real solution alas. The boot opening/space needs to longer to accommodate the roof, making the rake of the rear screen steeper.Iceicebsby1980 said:
I don't m8 my current car wrx sti . Hardly in fashion are they anymore . People prob think I'm a chav for driving one don't care love the car. Just my problem with convertibles is look at me I can fold the roof down on my car and in most cases fk the handling arnt I good lol
What about a Boxster? Or an Elise? Cars designed with a tub and as a soft top from the word go. Zero structural issues. Both fantastic cars to drive.Ares said:

Agreed. Folding tintops rarely work, there's just too much compromise involved. Either a huge arse, lots of joints and seams, or more usually both.Well, except for things that are big enough to carry it off...
But I wonder if people are aware how far they go back?

Why launch something that is seeing diminishing demand? Like it or not, the world is dumping Estate Cars and going to SUVs.
The dafter move, IMO, is Audi not doing RS Saloons for most of its range.
I know we've had this debate before but, while i don't disagree with the increased demand in SUV's, i also don't agree that estate's will just disappear and will stop being made. Why launch something that is seeing diminishing demand? There is still a demand for them, albeit maybe smaller than there used to be. SUV's and estates are different cars, the the end of the day, and both have their separate selling points.

i thought estate sales were increasing in real terms? There is still a demand for them, albeit maybe smaller than there used to be. SUV's and estates are different cars, the the end of the day, and both have their separate selling points.
Certainly as a ratio compared to saloons/hatchbacks sold, althought as mentioned SUV sales overshadow everything.

After mine and Ares's last conversion on this topic, he provided figures that suggested otherwise. I'm not sure if they were true and i didn't look into it any further because i'm not personally that bothered.Certainly as a ratio compared to saloons/hatchbacks sold, althought as mentioned SUV sales overshadow everything.
I just don't believe that estates are going to be going anywhere, anytime soon. As mentioned, it's currently where Audi have cemented themselves in the market place right now.

And for most normal buyers, the SUV's aren't that different to Estate cars....they are just less desirable/less practical etc and have very few selling point relevant to buyers. Shame, but thats the world we're in.
