Exactly. He’s just tight.
Way off pal, read the thread - I used to pay at the car park, however it is now full because there was a pub that used to offer parking and it's closed. So too many cars for the car park.

Appears via another poster there is ample paid parking st the station, in which case OP is trying to avoid the relevant commuting costs which should apply.
Same as my last comment, it's not about paying. I used to buy a weekly ticket to only not be able to park there on a regular basis.

The OP claims its not about the money. There are stations at Welwyn Garden City and Ware. Both within a few minutes drive (depending on which side of Hertford he lives on) Both of those stations have ample parking regardless of what time you get there. The solution seems pretty simple.

If the OP wanted to he could park outside another house on the same street, he seems to have a problem with this one house.

The Home onwner seems to be one of those petty types that will leave cones or bins to reserve a space.

The OP seems to be one of those belligerent types who "knows his rights".

In isolation both exist in relative peace, but when circumstances put them together there was always going to be a disagreement.

The OP will end up moving the home owners bins. The home owner will then escalate things (probably blocking in the OPs car). This will carry on for a bit until eventually someone will go too far and property will be damaged.

In all probability we will all be able to see the results in a few months on a channel 5 documentary.
Welwyn is 15 mins drive from my house, in the morning probably even longer. I have to be back to pick my son up from nursery, which I won't have time to do if driving from welwyn in an evening. Being from around here, you know the a414 grinds to a halt at rush hour

The rest of your comment is pretty accurate though smile

Anyway, I shifted the bins this morning. The same person also sticks there car in the middle of that kerb so you can't get two cars there, which is another kn0bbish thing to do. There was another car right behind mine, so I'm guessing he didn't know which one to fk up biggrin

You need to join the bucket club, www.bucketsmatter.co.uk
You then pay the person who owns the bucket £3.50 a day for parking everyone’s a winner your just missing out on what they are offering you.
It’s a secret parking group for that station, has been working well.
Try it next time:
Pull up
Place £3.50 in said bucket with your registration number
Move bucket to side
Park in said buckets previous position
Repeat next day........

What about Ware then? Plenty of parking there.

Same problem getting back - why do I want to make my journey longer and harder? None of this makes any sense, I don't need suggestions on my commute, the post was about how I annoyed I was, by someone with no good reason, trying to own part of a road they have no legal right to.

Round my way near the stations they have residents only parking between 10 and 12, this stops anyone leaving there car parked up all day.

Agree, however we travel together. Is it always like this on here, where people are trying to solve a problem you didn't actually ask about?

Scrap that, I've read enough threads that go right off topic to know it is the case

Harder than trawling around residential streets 1/2 a mile from the station looking for a space and getting into disputes with the residents?

I doubt it.

It’s not just here but something that has appeared everywhere over the last decade. There are people who regardless of what you ask or how you ask will just try and answer something else. And once they’ve started you can rarely stop it as it doesn’t matter how many times you re state the question or restructure it all they now see is the point they have created out of thin air. Work wise we just cut them out of the deal when they crop up but it’s a strange modern phenomena.

Anyway, back to your problem, have you thought about buying a cat? biggrin

i like the suggestion that you bung someone a few quid a day to use a drive space from someone. you get a guaranteed space, no hassle and you arent irritating anyone. sounds like a win win. even at 2.50 a day i think someone would take your hand off, probably a retired person who sees it as no impact free cash.
