what's the most comfy car you've ever been in? for me it was a 98 Lexus GS300 - seats like armchairs and the smoothest engine

I had an LS400 and it was also very comfortable. For a 20-odd year old car, nothing squeaked or rattled.

My dual paned e38 750 on smallish wheels and comfort seats. Powerful and very very quiet. Turbine smooth V12 aswell.

My L322 Range Rover scores very highly on the comfort front. Six hours driving with no stretching or walking like a cowboy when getting out of the car. hehe

I had a '93 Rover 827 back in the day, and I remember that being very comfortable, too.

The Rover wasn't an anomaly, either. I've owned lots of barges over the years (Jags, BMWs, Mercs, Audis, Fords, Vauxhalls, etc.)

But those are the two that stand out for comfort.

X308 XJR I had with wool mats was my comfiest.

Currently have a 2005 GS300 and it's a comfy old bus too. Very underrated cars I think.

Rolls Royce Ghost.

L322 Ranger Rover 2nd.

Then the older W220 S Class comes a close 3rd.

My 03 Merc E320 is a great way to cover ground, spacious, quiet and comfy. My other half has a CLS350 and that's probably a little more refined but again, a lovely way to cover distances.

I may have been in something comfier in my time but those two stand out as the most comfortable in recent times. smile

Can't remember the actual car - possibly a stretch Volvo or Mercedes - but it was on the way to the funeral of a friend's Dad. Lots of room, gliding ride and a smooth driver were a good combination.

It’s a long while ago so possibly rose-tinted specs at play but I recall the 1979 R20TS as being particularly comfortable.

Our final Citroen XM 2.5 VSX Estate - we've had many but the ride comfort on this one was just another level, astonishingly good and hydro pneumatic at its very best.

Early 21st Century XJ8 on largeish tyres was excellent too.

Of those I've either owned or been a passenger in:-

Citroen XM
Jag XJ40
Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit

I must admit, the XM was astonishingly comfortable

Conversely, two examples of cars I expected to be comfortable but weren't:-

Audi Q7
Range Rover Sport (both original and current versions)

Admittedly, the NVH / bump-thump suppression was good but the primary ride quality - for a premium product - was shocking.

So, not many cars made in the last 15 years then? What is the INSISTENCE with making everything as ‘sporty’ as possible, on rubber band tyres?? Citroen almost get it, almost nobody else does.

Having had Aston, Jaguar, Audi, Mercedes and lessers marques for me undoubtably the Range Rover Vouge L322 has been the most comfortable, and by a country mile.
