The trouble with referring to cars a decade or more ago, is that posters were younger then, so their backs could tolerate more.
I'm not so sure, many older cars placed more emphasis on comfort whilst most modern cars I have been in place it on 'sportiness'. My old XJ40 is still one of the most comfortable cars I have traveled in. It's not rose tinted specs - I still have it, so I have aged as much as it has!ChilliWhizz said:
Bentley Turbo R.... very comfy in a straight line
2nd that .Old Austin /Morris 1800s were very nice on long runs .
Most Volvos , my best was my S70 auto , my dear old dad loved that car , even commenting on how he was still able to walk and move after a trip from Dover to Northallerton then on to Glenrothes.
All the XJ range are comfortable once you get in them , getting in and out can be a contortion if you are larger size with dodgy knees and or back .
The Vauxhall Omega with those big arm chair seats has been the most comfiest car I have ever sat in. I am not sure if I felt like this because the only times I have been in one is straight after get off the plane at Gatwick.
Second most comfiest car I have ever sat in is a E46 BMW 318i sport touring. Perfect combo of 17" wheels and half alacantra seats.

The two cars I've owned that stand out for me are both the Rover 75 & Volvo V70.
The Rover is a lovely place to sit, however the interior perhaps isn't roomy enough / substantial enough to feel completely 'looked after'.
It looks nice and comfortable but I drove a couple of hours in a friends one, found it cramped and ended up with a sore back as I couldn't find a comfortable driving position. The Rover is a lovely place to sit, however the interior perhaps isn't roomy enough / substantial enough to feel completely 'looked after'.
