"The pen is mightier than the sword......
But no match for a gun"

Possibly not my favourite Beach Boys album, but near the top.

Long Promised Road is my favourite but the whole album is great.
What got me thinking about this album was that I was discussing with someone the Eagles track Pretty Maids All In A Row and I remember in an interview Glen Frey said this was Joe Walsh's tribute to the Beach Boys remembering a time gone by and I mentioned I wondered if he got the inspiration from Disney Girls which itself was recalling a time long past, penned by Bruce Johnson.

Sunflower/Surfs Up / Holland/ Carl and the Passions were a great era for the Beach Boys and deserve to be more widely known than they are.

Although it's a bit earlier (67) Wild Honey is a great album too.

They also did a great version of California Dreaming, featuring Roger McGuinn (on 12-string guitar, naturally). I can only find it on the compilation album, Made in U.S.A.

Few car related songs, one of my favourite, and never heard now, was 409.
