I'm waiting to pick up my 2nd Toyota GT86 this week, despite them being massively underpowered with the worst engine ever built. hehe

Our domestic snotter is a diesel Fiesta, one of the nastiest cars I've ever driven. It's a 1.6 non-turbo soot spreader that hardly ever goes more than 10 miles from home due to its total lack of charisma and is most often used twixt home - supermarket(s) - recycling centre, which is really all it's good for. Exterior trim keeps falling off, it's had two replacement back boxes and new injectors; the interior is the cheapest, hardest plastic known to man but VED is only £30 a year and we fill it up once in a blue moon. It's the motoring equivalent of an ugly, three-legged, 15 year old blind dog - you feel it would be kinder to put it down but the bloody thing keeps wagging its tail.
They never did one with a non-turbo. Both the 1.4 and 1.6 diesels are turbos!

I've got a good chance of winning this one....

My current car is...

a

2011 61...

Citroen...(booo)

C3 Picasso (BOOOOOO)

Diesel (BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO)

in Beige (BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO)

And i like it!

It was an utter bargain at £1500 mind, p/x at work, otherwise i wouldn't have bothered with one.
I see your beige c3 picasso, it sounds utterly disgusting, and i raise you mine.

A 2009 Citroen BERLINGO multispace, diesel and yes it matches the hearing aid beige in colour. Its only got one of its wheel trims remaining too

Just going back to the Rover 75. When people bang on about Audi and VW interiors being 'nice places to be', you compare them to the interior of that 75 and just wonder at what point we got things wrong.
Quite.
i get a lift in one occasionally. solid feel and lovely oval features. Just right, more so than many Jags.
i hope they reach classic status, they're worth preserving. shame the badge lets the car down, in that people don't give them a second look.
They may have already reached classic status boxedin. The badge may have been saved from some stick if the 200 and 400 had been put to pasture at the end of their production cycles (2000-ish) and the CityRover hadn't been entertained (JLR could have then used the name). The result of most people not giving them a second look is great prices for those who do! Well, apart from this seller who's having a laugh.

If only it had been engineered FR rather than FF (or the M57 engineered to be installed transversely). It would have opened the door to a 21-Century P5B...before Euro IV came in. Or a KV8 (90-degree vee engine block architecture was there).

Not mine, but my dad's Mercedes SLC 180. Journos and PHers would lead you to believe the SLC is a bit of a dog, but I find it to be an absolutely terrific machine.

It's a great all rounder. Comfortable, easy to live with, and with a solidly built and spacious interior - a delightful everyday driver. It's also not half bad to drive sportingly - 156hp is never going to set the world on fire, but the 1.6l engine feels torquey, eager enough and surprisingly happy to rev. Even sounds quite raspy with the standard sports exhaust they fitted. Sure, it's no MX-5 to drive, but it's much better than you'd expect.

Considering the almost comical discounts Mercedes is offering on these, I am seriously tempted by one for my next car...now that's something I never thought I would say.

Indeed. The 1.4 8-valve was non-intercooled. The 16-valve, however, was! Only installed in the C3 and Liana and came with a VGT turbocharger. nerd

They did, because my works van at the time was a Mk2 1.6 diesel non turbo... and it was truly awful.

The Mk4 Fiesta had a normally aspirated diesel (Endura-DE) though it was a 1.8 rather than a 1.6.

None of the 1.6s were ever non-turbos.

The old tech 1.8 was a non turbo but even towards the end it gained a turbo in the fiesta (up to 2001ish model)

My parts van was definitely a 1.6 non turbo also had a friend who had a 5 door with the same engine, I worked for a Ford main dealer at the time so I'm 100% positive.

I am almost 100% positive there was never a non-turbo version.

Where is the non-turbo 1.6 diesel model?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Duratorq_engine

The old 1.8s used to have no turbo but that was going back some time before this.

Me, and Mrs OB, both drive Kia diesel dailies.

We neither of us work for Kia, and we both supposedly like a little luxury in life (my last car was a Merc E class). Go figure.

Riley said he had an old Fiesta 1.6 diesel non turbo, you said they didn't do a non turbo diesel and I disagreed, not being funny but there was no mention of 2002.

2007 1.9TDi Golf.

had it just over 6 years. Only one breakdown where it needed a new ignition barrel. 143k miles on and still gives me 60mpg (actual) to and from Worksop/Sheffield.

Best car I've ever owned.
